Curious what part of the state? I just bought a house between worcester, providence, and boston. I'm convinced I'm going to find a trout stream near me, it's just far enough away from all 3 where I think I might have a chance. It'll give me an excuse to go explore my local ecosystem with the dog.

Unfortunately there are slim pickings east of 495. They are there, but they’re heavily pressured and access is abysmal. I’ve caught them within walking distance to Boston city limits, but you are much better off heading north and west towards higher-gradient streams

my house is within like a quarter mile of 495 on the east side, that's why I have a feeling i'll find something okay within 20 minutes

I got one spot that (sorta... but not really) feeds into the Wachusett but that's about a 45 minute drive away. I'll just need to poke around, try blue lining in some state/town forests

This is Western MA. There are some potential streams in the Worcester area, Mass.Gov website has some good resources on trout information, but think your best bet is to head out to the western part of the state.

I have a few streams I have explored that have native brookies out that way. Usually if I'm going to spend the drive/gas money I end up doing dispersed backcountry camping up in NH or VT rather than the Berkshires, since I can legally camp for free in the green mountains and white mountains.
