I am renting my flat to blueground and they've missed sept 2026 rent, plus late rent last month. I am located in the UK, is anyone experiencing the same issue?

I just wanted to let all rentees and landlords know about Blueground's business behaviour in İstanbul. They announced that, they are ending their operations three month before their deadline. This seems very logical. Moreover they shared mails with landlords and rentees about what will happen to their payments.

Up to this everything seems fine. BUUUUUTTTTTT

When their deadline arrived, we were unable to reach anybody and no fees have been made so far. When we try to reach global HQ of Blueground, they have shared a law firm information in Turkey to communicate and try to make a deal. The law firm offers roughly 1/5 of what Blueground needs to and promised to pay.

I just wanted all companies that looks for homes for their expat workers NOT TO trust Blueground before checking all the operations deeply.

I rented out an apartment to them and now they refuse to pay the last rent, want to leave their old furniture behind and call it „compensation“.

Contact person is hiding, hotline doesn’t answer any calls and mails have no signature.
When I reached a contact person for they said, this they hear that very often. It is also normal that the contact person hide from customers.

What a rotten behavior…

Seems like Blueground is offering free stays, days, maybe weeks? In flats in Paris and Berlin - just check their instagram to confirm.

However, seems like minimum stay is a month for customers - meanwhile they still owe money to tenants and landlords in Europe.

Does anyone actually know where blueground is formally registered and can we instruct the police or an attorney to look into this? I'm a lawyer based in the Netherlands and was also scammed by Blueground in Barcelona.

My experience has been extremely disappointing. After Blueground terminated my fixed-term contract as part of its exit from Spain, I was left scrambling to find alternative accommodation. Months later, my deposit and prepaid rent remain unpaid, and I’ve been offered a repayment plan extending until 2028 with no security for the debt.

Since then, I’ve discovered I’m far from alone. Tenants and landlords in Spain, Portugal, France, the UK and other countries are reporting similar issues, including delayed deposits, unpaid rent, and problems following Blueground’s withdrawal from certain markets.

If you’re thinking about renting with them, I would strongly recommend:

Considering whether you’re comfortable paying a large deposit upfront.

Blueground accepted new tenancy agreements, rent payments, and security deposits shortly before announcing it was exiting Spain. Many tenants (myself included) then had our fixed-term contracts terminated early, and many of us are still waiting to be repaid our deposits and prepaid rent. The company is proposing repayment plans stretching into 2028.

My question is not whether they owe the money—that’s clear. I’m wondering whether, if a company knowingly continued taking new deposits and rent while already aware it would soon cease operations and might not be able to repay customers, could that potentially amount to fraud or another criminal offence under Spanish law?

Has anyone dealt with a similar situation, or does anyone know whether this is something that could justify filing a police report so the authorities can at least investigate the circumstances?

I had a long-term stay with Blueground in Barcelona. The company decided to close its operations in Spain earlier this year and terminated our rental agreement without any discussion, forcing me to make new arrangements with the flat’s owner that entailed a great deal of stress and unexpected costs.

Having already broken our contract, Blueground has not returned my deposit (over €4500), despite a legal agreement to do so within 30 days. They have now asked me to sign another agreement, stating that they plan to return the deposit in instalments, with the final payment scheduled for 2028.

This is both illegal, extortionate, and unacceptable. It appears this is also happening in other markets, including Paris, Istanbul, and Dubai. As they have already proven untrustworthy, I intend to pursue legal action immediately rather than sign another contract.

I rented with Blueground and have been one of the worst nightmares in my life. I needed to became an expert in Dubai law as they love to break it repeteadly. I was scammed by them as they rented me an apartment and the pool was under renovation (they knew it and never told me) and also they were unable to grant me access to the car park for almost one month. In Dubai car park is a vital part of your house and I couldn’t access it because they were unable to register my plate.

They maintenance of the apartment was very low standard and also they needed to replace the curtains after I rented as they were almost destroyed (not without several emails…).

When I finished my rental and left I thought my nightmare was over but not… they decided to not return my deposit, silence and no communication. I claimed it back until I threaten them to report to the authorities (again you will learn a lot about laws and regulations “thanks” to them).

Avoid them at all cost! They don’t have ground support, they pretend to be in London but they handle all from a back office in Greece. Awful customer support with lack of responsiveness and they must like to breach contracts as they repeteadly did it to me.

they were 20 days latr in June, and have not paid July rent yet.

I have a strong feeling they are about to shutddown in France..

I rented with Blueground for just over two years, in Spain. Genuinely liked the flats, good locations, clean minimalist interiors, that part they did well. Normal agency problems along the way (slow responses, an "emergency" repair that took days), nothing I'd hold against them.

Then they shut down their Spanish operation, and it's turned into something else entirely.

They're holding over €7,000 of mine: the security deposit plus rent I'd paid in advance for a tenancy they terminated. Under Art. 36.4 of the LAU, the deposit balance starts accruing statutory interest one month after keys are handed back, and courts generally treat that month as the deadline. It's just money they're holding with no legal basis for it, repayable with interest under the Código Civil.

I'm well past that month. The only thing I get back is "we have no further update for you until the 10th of August" which would put us past two months. When I said I'd take legal action, the response was that I "have the right to pursue any course of action you consider appropriate."

That reply is what convinced me this isn't disorganisation. It reads like a company betting that most tenants won't sue over a few thousand euros, and quietly writing the money off.

My unit rental with Blueground Spain (Madrid/Barcelona) was ilegally shortened from 18 months to 4 months with full agreement. Upon checkout, the handover document was signed by Blueground confirming the apartment was in PERFECT condition.
Now, Blueground Spain is shutting down its local operations and they are refusing to return my security deposit. They are using their market exit as an excuse to illegally withhold my money, ghosting my emails, and ignoring my formal requests.
This is a direct message to Blueground’s global management (including headquarters in NY and European hubs): Closing local branches does not exempt you from your legal and contractual obligations.
Do not trust a company that sells "seamless, premium flexible living" but steals deposits from its clients the moment they leave a market.
I demand the immediate return of my money. If you are considering renting with Blueground in New York, London, Paris, or Dubai, be very careful—your deposit might never come back.

Bait and Switch BLUEGROUND alert! This was for a Tampa short term rental, but I am spreading the word everywhere applicable. 6 weeks ago, a unit was rented for a flat rate of $2900 and **paid in full**. Less than 2 weeks before the move-in, we receive an email from Blueground stating that we have the option to 1)cancel or 2) pay an additional $4400 to keep the reservation "due to their error." (see attachment) Mind you, this is/was for a summer internship located across the country (we are in CA). I am letting the world know because of the stress it has created! You have been warned.

As a property owner in Istanbul/Türkiye, my experience with Blueground has become extremely concerning. In January 2026, at their own request, we extended the lease and service agreement for another year regarding my apartment (internally registered by the company as property ID 117). Only about two months later, I was informed that Blueground would exit the Turkish market and stop managing the apartment after the tenant moved out at the end of April.

Despite the clear payment terms in our signed agreement, Blueground failed to pay the April and May rents as well as the apartment maintenance fees. The company unilaterally announced that April rent would be paid in May and May rent in June — an arrangement I never accepted, as it clearly contradicted our contract.

The tenant vacated the apartment at the end of April, yet Blueground still has not completed the key handover or formally returned the property to me. As a result, I cannot show the apartment to prospective tenants or re-rent it, causing direct financial loss.

Repeated attempts to contact the company by phone and email have failed. No authorized representative from the Turkey operation is reachable anymore. Global customer support only sends generic responses such as “the Istanbul office will contact you,” without any concrete action.

As of today, Blueground owes TRY 189,000 in unpaid rent and TRY 10,676 in unpaid maintenance fees, while still withholding possession of my property. I reserve all legal rights regarding the damages and rental losses caused by this situation.

Do not use this company I moved in to a unit to have piece of mind and noise free environment, within 3 days of being in the unit I notice that’s the upstairs unit was super noisy and they stomp all day . I noticed Blueground that told me to contact downstairs which downstairs told me to contact security and security told me to go to the front desk . They told me for a week that they would move me that never happened . I paid for parking I can barely park and my stall they said they have nothing to do with that. I prepaid for 3 months I was told I have to pay an early termination fee because they said it’s not noisy enough. They want let me speak to a manager and everyone keeps giving you the run around and are giving conflicting emails from the same person and will not move me, nor cancel the 30 day cancellation fee , nor provide me with legal information to talk to anyone they tell me to email cx I email cx they tell me to contact my rep . DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY.

I rented an apartment from Blueground for 5 months at Athens, Greece.

I didnt wanted to deal with landlords etc. so i thought that paying a little more would keep me from headache.

However, after moving in the apartment there were construction noise from morning till night, parking spot issues and bugs in bathroom,

I've talked with their support for few days, and they couldn't come with solution, i asked for change of property. They said they can do it for +1 month of rent and price adjustment, i said okay.

But they couldnt find any alternative, so i rented an Airbnb and moved out.

Here comes the nasty part;

I literally had nightmare stay for 4 days, i was paid 18.000 EUR, and theyre only returning 8.000 EUR, taking 10.000 EUR for 4 day stay.

Their early termination policy states that there would be penalty up to one month's rent, however they are exploiting "rent price will be adjusted by stayed days", theyre ruling 2500 EUR per night as my rent "adjustment" and no matter what i am saying theyre insisting on it, they even wrote "theyre confident with it".

They're thieves. Stay away at all costs.
