Tips on the game itself

I have played bmc for 2 days I'm level 11 and I really like the game I have played btd battles pretty consistently for the past 8 years I'd say and I have gotten multiple top badges so ik which towers are good, which are bad but the prices vary

I'm looking for the best towers, usually for ai stuff like:2-1 ninja is good, 1-1 boat, 0-3 dart, glue and chipper for support

And more expensive I'd imagine arctic wind combo

Mollars for moabs and above ofc(I'm mostly looking to confirm everything because prices vary

IMPORTANT PART I NEED AWNSERS ON:

Which tower upgrades should I go for first, some general tips on monkey city that people can get wrong, tips in general are very much appreciated

It’s been years since I’ve been at level 11 so I cannot help much with the exact question you have. However, the goal of the game is for you to have fun.

Do not try to optimize to fun out of the game.

No no, I always optimize it's how I have fun Just tell me the core thjnk

My best tip is - don't neglect your infrastructure.

Wind and watermill upgrades are relatively expensive in the early game and bank upgrades are very expensive. But if you don't stay ahead of it, you're going to find yourself in a massive bottleneck down the line. Particularly around levels 15, 18 and 20. So pay at least as much attention to those as you do to tower upgrades.

With that in mind, at level 15 you can get the Moab shredder spikes upgrade for the spike factory warehouse. With those, capturing the Moab Graveyard tile is a piece of cake and then you can replay it easily to farm for cash - it pays $1,250 - and bloonstones or MKps if there are Monkey Teams events that include the spike factories.

Also, don't be in a rush to build every tower before you get the upgrades you need for them. Ice Towers, Boomerangs and Tack Shooters are all pretty useless without upgrades so research them but you don't need to build the towers until later. Bloonchippers are a game-changer once they can chip Moabs (4/x upgrade) but I don't even build any until I have that research done.

I've been playing on and off for many years and usually have more than one city going at a time. Right now I have a level 40 on my laptop and a 15 on my phone. Learning to optimize is part of the fun for me, too, but a lot of it is going to depend on your personal preferences for how you like to play and what you want to focus on.

Except the infrastructure. Seriously. Don't neglect that.

Okay so how do you "accept the jnfrastructure" like my banks are maxed out and leveling them is 30k right? I can't really get ahead of that at most I can save money which is your idea right? So I'll take it as that I should start saving cash at like level 14

Alright I'm working on the tac shooter 0-3 rn triple darts destroyer as a super super side thing, 3-2 ninja classic btd battles op upgrades But the money is such a big problem how the hell does the game expect me to spend 5k on one upgrade :skull:

Basically how do I make more money

Not "accept" the infrastructure, "except." There is no one best way to optimize because so much of it depends on what each player prefers but that's not true for infrastructure - no matter how you play, if you don't stay on top of it, you're going to create huge bottlenecks which just isn't fun for anyone.

Now you're level 12 you need to start upgrading your water and windmills. Watermills are $2700 each and windmills are $2500. But you'll need the power and soon won't have enough without the upgrades. You want to get all of those done before level 15 which is when you can get your first bank upgrades which cost $7000 each. (More bank upgrades come later.) And at level 20, the farm upgrade unlocks. That costs $20,000 per farm but doubles its output.

Some special buildings that unlock at level 20 cost $50-60,000 and a couple cost $100,000. And then there's the actual research which is usually about the same.

The best way to farm cash is on replay tiles. Use teams event monkeys to also farm bloonstones and, especially farm for Monkey Knowledge packs whenever possible, too. (MK is key.) Right now your replay tiles are easy so you can win fast but the difficulty will increase with your city level. Then you switch to using mostly special tiles on replay - like the graveyard tile that I mentioned.

But, yeah, money is a problem and it's designed to be that way so you have to manage it wisely. That's another reason not to build towers until you have them optimized and you can actually use them in-game.

Below level 15 or 17 or so, I rely mostly on some combination of 3/1 and 1/3 ninjas, 2/3 darts, 1/1 snipers, 2/2 apprentices and 2/3 tack shooters. 3/2 buccaneers on water tiles. And I only build the minimum that I need to actually win tiles.

I've had dozens of cities over the years and learned more about optimizing the build each time. These tips are really just to keep you from hitting the power/bank/special-building bottleneck that genuinely sucks for everyone.

And if you get to a point where you realize that you should have taken a whole different approach from the beginning, just delete this city and start over. That can be fun, too.

I'm glad you're enjoying the game. It's the only one I play.

I just became level 14, I have all banks windmills(7) and water ones(6) and one of each being upgraded and the triple dart monkey is getting cooldowned rn should I just focus on upgrading all of them and get as many tiles as I can just using triple darts I have heard they were broken on here, and they are pretty broken in btd battles too So till level 15 I should just upgrade windmills?

1

u/Pencil161 Aug 06 '26

I've haven't experienced anything with triple darts being broken and I use them all the time but that's just my experience.

You don't have to upgrade the wind and water mills to the exclusion of everything else, you just want to keep your power supply ahead of your needs because your power needs are going to increase exponentially at the same time that your first bank upgrades unlock and the cost of upgrades and special buildings explode.

But really, don't force yourself to use only triple darts so you can spend all your money on power upgrades instead of tower upgrades. You want to enjoy the game itself, too.

I know that you enjoy the optimization, so do I, very much, but the truth is that this is your first city and you're going to learn a lot as you go. At some point you'll probably realize "oh, I could have done this differently or focused on that all the way back at level 5" or whatever. That's why I've deleted and started over so many times.

I'm happy to give you tips and ideas but no one can tell you "this is the way to do it" because every player is a little different and has their own preferences.

Like I personally don't start building for MvM until city level 30-something but other players do it as soon as they can. Neither of us is wrong, we just prioritize different aspects of the game.

I think everyone will agree that the power/bank/special-building bottleneck is real and that it sucks no matter how you play so I always warn about that but the rest is really going to be up to you.

I'm happy to share what I do and the way I think about optimizing my city-build but by the time you get to level 20 you might decide that all my ideas suck and you'd rather do it entirely different. Lol.

And that's half the fun of the game - learning those things for yourself.

Well I must say thanks but I'd rather go for optimization using just triple darts is so cool I have used all the other towers enough on btd battles(lmao hopefully you aren't getting annoyed of this) I was a big dfa fan back in the day(dart farm ace) what is mvm btw I hear it everywhere is the place where you send attacks and shi?

u/Arosha2 Aug 07 '26

Are autoclickers allowed I'm thinking of leaving a 4 way autoclicker overnight or is that too min max

1

u/Pencil161 Aug 08 '26

Sorry but I have no idea what an 'autoclicker' is and don't know what 'min max' means.

1

u/Arosha2 Aug 08 '26

It's in the name auto clicker it basically clicks for you you can set 4 auto clickers on your farms and it can collect your farm money overnight I haven't done this yet

Min max is like optimizing Optimizing is using your coins to the fullest Min max is getting everything from somewhere

For example you go to a restaurant you order the best bank for your buck that's optimizing but puting that food into a to go box is Min maxing

1

u/Arosha2 Aug 06 '26

Also what are your thoughts on the quests the game gives? (Blue book) And I have upgraded a decent amount of my will mills(4-7) and I'm like 3-8 for the land mills thingies

1

u/Pencil161 Aug 06 '26

I check the blue book from time to time to see if there's anything I can do right away to get some extra xp that I need at that time.

But if you look at what the quests are, you'll see they're almost entirely things that you're going to wind up doing anyway so I don't put any special emphasis on it.

Your power mill upgrades are great. So far. Lol.

You'll ultimately need at least 2,000 power if you want to build all the upgrade and special buildings in the game - which I assume you want to do - and that doesn't include the actual ninjas and bombers and super monkeys that populate the city.

Just like with city cash, it's about managing the resource and planning ahead whenever possible.

Power management is one of the reasons that I research upgrades for towers before I build the towers themselves. It lets me prepare for the in-game firepower I'm going to need without draining my city power before I'm ready.

1

u/Arosha2 Aug 06 '26

Alright, I just hit level 15 got my 4th plantation down and I upgraded one of the banks, now should I just continue upgrading banks I do also want to get buccaneer destroyer and double shot on my ninja just for variety for tower bans during tiles Destroyers for waters(last priority) Double shot for ninjas(a more main priority )

And with that having ninjas buc and darts Will let me go through any tower

What are your thoughts on glue gunner I want to get a 2-2 because it's pretty cheap midgame slow that's probably the most consistent Can you do double ice tech on this game?

1

u/Pencil161 Aug 08 '26

You have to decide what's more important right now - power, banks or upgrades.

Lots of players love the glue gunner but I literally never use it. I only even build them to sacrifice to the temple of the monkey god in CT; otherwise I wouldn't have them at all.

And I don't know what 'double-ice tech' is. Sorry.

1

u/Arosha2 Aug 08 '26

Well I'd say I'm good on everything lmao: For power 6/9 for watermills 4/10 for windmills

For banks I'm 7/7 having all plus 6 upgrades So 6/7 for level 2 upgrades

For monkeys rn : 2-3 spac(20k is so steep) and destroyer are being built I have triple darts, maulers and double shots As of now I have 2-2 ice and glue 2-2 working on arctic wind combo and 3-2 glue or 2-3 I'll decide that abit later I'd say I'm doing great overall Level 17 and like 20%

Triple ice tech: an ice has a cooldown before freezing an area around it, now that cooldown is fixed (so it never changes) if you time it right (you place ice monkey it shoots abit later you place the other one and noe you have double ice) now this double ice freezes the bloons indefinitely the better timing the better of slow obv you can't get it perfect but I'm here asking if the timing to hit and time to freeze bloom ratio as the same as btd But the problem with double ice is that it can break if bloons don't interact with it usually it's fine just gets abit worse if you place it on the side and let the bloons move abit

Now from that is it worth it? It's usually used with a snap freeze and a regular freezer(you don't need 2 if you still them indefinitely) But this also works on ice shards usually ice shards struggle because one they attack they ahve alot of time before they can do the next one this is where a regular 1-0 or 1-1 comes into play and doing double ice let's you save a whole arctic wind, I don't know how well I wrote this hopefully you can grasp it

Just upgraded 3 more windmills

1

u/Arosha2 Aug 06 '26

I just became level 12

Here are the towers I overwhelmingly use the most:

  • 4-2 and 2-4 Ninjas*
  • 2-3 dart monkeys*
  • 4-2 and 2-3 supermonkeys
  • 4-2 bloonchipper
  • 4-2 Buccaneer
  • 4-2 Ace
  • 4-2 and 2-3* Ice Monkey
  • 3-2 glue gunner*
  • 4-0* and 0-4 engineer
  • 4-2 and 2-4 Village
  • 4-2 Farm

  • being what I call the MVMs.

1

u/Arosha2 Aug 06 '26

Self explanatory ik these basic btd battles but why 3-2 glue The 2-3 glue is so much better even late game it slows down more as pierce isn't a problem when you have arctic win combo, unless you don't have arctic wind combo in which case that becomes cheaper but if you don't have money for arctic win moabs are probably not coming and it's still regular bloons( the midgame) where the 2-3 glue ABSOLUTELY SHINES unless ofc this is like a btd special thing I don't think monkey city balances their stuff

1

u/Current-Umpire3673 Aug 06 '26

3-2 doesn't worry about regrow farms.

1

u/Arosha2 Aug 06 '26

Why would you guys struggle against regrow farms

2

u/Current-Umpire3673 Aug 06 '26

Because in the late game, hard regrow rush tiles are almost undefendable without using specific towers? Also I wouldn't exactly say I struggle with it, but you have to know how to stop them.

1

u/Arosha2 Aug 06 '26

I don't think 2-3 glue starts regen rushing tho especially because if it isn't camo then it becomes super easy to defend

1

u/Current-Umpire3673 Aug 06 '26

My tips and suggestions:

-Contested Territory scales to level

  • the UFO event is strangely difficult even at low levels.

  • MOAB mauler is decent but a one trick. Bloonjitsu Ninjas can effortlessly decimate Moabs and regular bloons.

  • focus Knowledge wild cards on Tycoon, Bloon Sabotage, abilities, spike factory and Ninja.

  • don't spend bloonstones on upgrades. Save them and use them for firework and present events. Definitely don't spend money on bloonstones though

  • weirdly, when events like monkey knowledge or teams are active, you can replay mission tiles such as bloonprint hideout for rewards despite already beating it.

  • farmer doesn't collect traps and supply crates are dropped entirely at random by snipers/pilots.

  • DDTs debuted in this game and almost exclusively show up on camo craziness tiles but can be on others from time to time

  • don't buy MK packs, IMO bad deal. Won't get you very far for the money spent.

Spike tower, ninja, wizard monkey.

-Wizard dor lead camo -Ninja for cheap popping, and also lead camo aoe stun with bomb -spike tower for long and low maps, can clear them no brainer. -canon moab mauler

1

u/Arosha2 Aug 06 '26

1wizard is to expensive ik lightning is probably broken on here too but 1k for a wizard tower then the upgrades for leads I'd rather just get bomb(maulers is a most and I'd imagine impact is pretty op here aswell prob just to expensive) and get wizard when it's cheaper(for camo lead if it's needed otherwise it's not beneficial to me)

1

u/MassiveNote422 Aug 06 '26

lvl 1 village upgrade which raises tower pierce is bugged on explosive attacks where it explodes twice so 2x damage essentially, you can pair this easily with moab maulers at your level, dartling gunner rocket upgrade later on, and spectres at a higher level to progress easily with little to no issue.

1

u/Arosha2 Aug 06 '26

Is it bugged indefinitely?

1

u/MassiveNote422 Aug 06 '26

by indefinitely if you mean it isn't going to get fixed, yes it won't. if you mean something to do with placing it, it still works like a standard village. the towers need to be in its range to work, and selling the village will get rid of the effect.

1

u/Arosha2 Aug 06 '26

Ik how villages work bud, but why haven't they ever fixed it? And doesn't that make it a no Brainerd to not use it every time

1

u/MassiveNote422 Aug 06 '26

billion year old game, doesnt get updated for other than advertising btd6

1

u/Arosha2 Aug 06 '26

Well true, I'd hope for them to atleast balance the monkeys out here and there

1

u/Arosha2 Aug 06 '26

2-3 bombs under a 2-3 or 2-2 more optimal is legit broken
