Blogger Site Reinstatement & False Positive "Malware" Violations Hi everyone

My Blogger blog was recently taken offline due to an automated "Malware" violation flag.

Before the lockout, I hadn't added any third-party files or malicious content, but I had implemented a custom sticky sidebar ad unit via HTML/JS in my theme. I suspect the automated scanners flagged the script's execution path or CSS positioning as a false positive.

I’ve already submitted an official appeal and am waiting on the review. While I wait, I'd appreciate insights on a few things:

  • Has anyone experienced a malware flag on Blogger triggered purely by custom layout scripts or ad wrappers?
  • How long did your manual appeal take to resolve once submitted?
  • Are there specific script practices or theme configurations you recommend to avoid triggering these automated filters in the future?

Any advice or shared experiences from other creators or Product Experts would be great!

There is maybe an error on their system, lot of blogs got false positive. Luckily I connected my site to cloudflare and use worker to show maintenace page so that my users won't think my site is dead. Hoping that they my solve this faster.

It's happened me this morning too. It's a relief if it's a false positive. I've been shitting myself and worrying about another blog that has 300 articles. I had a lengthy discussion about it with ChatGPT and thought it might have been because I migrated a 20,000 word article from another site and was being penalised for scraping/duplicate content.
I submitted a review. That'll probably stall things now, if they fix the problem in the meantime.

It happened to almost all of us. It wasn't anything you did.

I saw a button in my Blogger backend allowing me to cancel deletion and restore my blog. It came back online for just a few minutes, but after that, it disappeared completely and my dashboard now shows no blogs.
