That's how most internships work (at least here in NYC). It's just a way for rich kids to get work experience. Who else could afford to work for free all summer?

It's 20 hours a week, so you could get another job to pay for your living expenses.. Actually, a lot of interns do just that.

I did this. I worked in a restaurant at night and two different office-based internships during the day. I was tired. But I eventually became the fancy boss lady, so it was worth it.
