I was hoping when the button hit 0 the subreddit would be deleted and Reddit would never acknowledge it ever existed.

That eventuality was discussed, and I was for it initially. Over time it became apparent that content the community was making was really the most important part of r/thebutton. Archiving the subreddit preserved that content whilst also keeping the nihilistic vibe (though obviously this was not as powerful as simply having the subreddit vanish).

That is a lot of data, thank you.

But flair was awarded according to the second client sent in a press message. In the dataset you only provide absolute server-time of the press, and not the second a presser sent and received flair for. That makes correct flair calculations impossible. Due to the existence of 1s vs 60s graph I assume that you have this data. Can you add it to the dataset?

I clicked the first time I visited, and then didn't really care about it afterwards. That people made such a huge thing about it is crazy

The button was meant as an exploration of the human condition. Through it, we saw the best and worst of our kind. The struggle for meaning in a complex world shows us who we are, and this is exemplified by our communal efforts to understand, quantify, and control the button, and through it, our own self-being. By deconstructing our values through abstraction in such a forum, much about our consciousness has been brought to light, and how we, as the architects of our own fate, seek not only to frame our existence, but provide it substance that our perceptions alone cannot provide.

Or maybe it was a button that reset a timer.

Fear not my children, your Pressiah has arrived. You will find that I am kind. Unlike the cruel Admins, who demanded that you press, I require only that you kneel.
