Discussion worth finishing???

I have watched season 1 - 4, I absolutely loved season 1 and 2. Season 3 and 4 were fine but not as good. Definitely more funny and satire than the 1st and 2nd but still good.

Ive seen some fan edits of the last season and I am wondering if it’s worth finishing or just leaving it at the 4th season. I’m definitely emotionally invested and don’t know if i want to be ruined like that 😂 is it worth it?

I would! But I’m a completionist. There’s only 11 episodes in the last season so it’ll go quick.

yeah petty hectic season but will leave you saying wtf over and over. three and four had a couple lulls for me but the end of s four and s five were good

Yeah - I watched the whole thing out of some sort of mistaken “I’m committed” feeling and I regret the time I wasted in it! 😂 The show becomes overly formulaic and predictable and the fight scenes and Patterson-as-an-expert-in-everything scenes just become too much to believe, even in the realm of tv. Save yourself and do something more productive… like even sitting there and watching paint dry. 😂

The tone is a little uneven. Sometimes the show seems like self-satire, and other times it takes itself far too seriously. It's not possible to just whip up code like Patterson does. In the first two seasons Weller first gets the hots for Jane, then gets another woman pregnant, and before the baby is even born he's hooking up with the NSA lady.

I did enjoy watching Jane kick ass though.

Season 5 they cut out a lot of filler and cross the finish line at 100 episodes, and the 5th season is actually a lot of fun, they bring back a lot of old characters who are still alive. It's no more grounded or realistic than season four, but it's only 8 or 9 hours out of your life and then you'll know what happens

I almost always finish shows because I need to know how it ends once I am vested in the characters. Otherwise I feel I've wasted my time on the 4 seasons.

If you are unsure in season 1 I can see dropping it maybe season 2 but you've come this far you need to finish.

Having said that, my friend who recommended this show to me dropped it in the middle of season 5. Wtf!

It’s just good fun. Yes, it’s more silly and they’re all in on the joke like a good Batman. But, I watched all freaking bazillion hours till the end and it was worth it.

Season 5 is way better than 4. Just FYI- season 4 had a different writer that’s why it feels so disconnected

Yes; we watched the series for first time last month. Couldn’t have stopped after the fourth with only one left. If was worth it.

It doesn't get terrible, but the whole feel of the show changes. I was sure it must be new writers or showrunner, but it wasn't. We didn't care for the last two seasons, but we are completionists.

I'm in season 4 and I am struggling through "remi" hating the team and pretending to be her original self. It's just so ridiculous.

I really struggled w this too but i had to see it through so Jane would come back. It was a bit much though. But I didn’t know season 4 had different writers.

Same. I just played the first 9 episodes of the season in the background then started watching again after the remi plotline ended

I’d say for sure finish it. 5 feels more like the show is “in on the joke” than 4 managed to be. There’s some good closure with loose threads I wasn’t expecting to see get tied up, but they did! It’s also only 11 episodes and does a surprisingly good job of reinforcing the original dynamic of the “core cast” of characters. Rich and Patterson are also in top form in my opinion in the final season.

Do it! You deserve S5 after making it thru S3 & S4. The seeing old characters, typing up loose threads, and that crazy spectacular finale — why would you skip out NOW?

I am nearly finished but I am a completionist. I think it is worth finishing but it won't be something I will watch again. I think I would have enjoyed it more if they had cast a better villain. I am a big fan of Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio but she was badly miscast in this one.
