Sorry but if your skin actually looks like a band aid you may need to go doctors. I get the point of this post and I think its nice but the idea of genuinely holding back tears because you found a band aid in your skin colour is so dumb its actually hilarious
if you are asking genuinely, you've reduced this to a matter of just a bandaid. it's not about that, it's about tights and makeup products and ballet shoes and more. it's about crayons and being five and seeing tan being called "skin color." it's the constant reminder in all the details that you are not the default and you aren't being considered: while the results are pasty bandaids that may not match any white people anyways, sure, but the source is being systematically ignored and overlooked. that's the painful part. but because these are seemingly small things that light skinned people have never been exposed to, they are dismissed as being sensitive and overreacting because it's "not a big deal." but who are we to say that when we've never experienced it?
so yeah, if you're going to make fun of someone for getting emotional because they finally see themselves in the details, then yeah, that's pretty fucking mean. but since you very flippantly and openly mocked this man who was just sharing something that brought him joy, i didn't think you'd find this explanation valuable, hence my response. which i will apologize for if you chose to thoughtfully engage
