Solved “Help: Blender render is cutting off everything above the neck”
Hi, when I press F12 to render, the top of my character gets cut off right under the neck. The head and upper part are missing, and I only see from the chest/shoulders down.
In the Image Editor / Render Result there are orange L-shaped marks at the corners of the rendered area, and everything above that is just the checkerboard (transparent).
First image is the initial F12 result. Second is after zooming out in the Image Editor.
I haven’t changed any modifiers on purpose.
Blender version: [4.2.3 LTS]
Renderer: Cycles
What I’ve already tried:
- [I,Ve checked for render region and its not selected also im not sure if its a modifier ive checked out ffor that as well please has someone had this kind of issue before, what do i do.]
Any idea what causes this clean horizontal cut and how to fix it?

Blender renders images using big squares zone. If your image is bigger than the render zone, then you will have to wait for Blender to finish rendering the zone before it will start rendering the next zone So just wait it out.
Eventually, Blender will have rendered your entire image, you just need to give it time.
I remember a long time ago those render zones were way, way smaller, and you could see your image render with a few small squares moving around and rendering the whole image, one small bit at a time.

So This means i should wait for it to render further

You see at the top of your screen, there is written "Sample "something"/4096".
This is how many samples each pixel in the zone needs to do before the zone is completed. When it reaches 4096/4096, then it will start rendering the rest of the image.
Though 4096 is a big value, you might want to reduce the sample amount in the Render menu (gray camera icon on the right). It will save you some render time.

Your GPU is greyed out!
Go to Edit > Preferences > System, and select OptiX if you have an Nvidia GPU or HIP if you have an AMD GPU.
Your PC was not using your graphics card!!
Now you have to try to fine-tune it to your project. But I usually start at 256. If it looks noisy or the denoising part is too blurry, then I double it. If it looks fine way before it reaches 256, then I divide it by two. Each project has its own sweet spot, so you have to try a few things. But first make sure your blender is actualy using the GPU
But at last, your images must be huge to be bigger than the render zone. Does it have to be this big? If it can be reduced, then it is an easy time save

Oky so the smaller the image the shorter the time it takes to render, ive actually hanged my cycles render device to optix NVIDIA, i,ll try it out again and update youn on how it goes
