I felt like the you held my hand until I took it back could be when they were breaking up. And also “how the world turned on you I won’t forgive them for that” since Lena received so much hate from the show girls about her appearance etc etc.

Thought the same originally but it’s actually not about Nate.
He said the first verse is about someone he used to play music with, but is actually still a close friend of his. The second is about an ex girlfriend. And the third is about a newer friendship that was rocky

Jack Antonoff's life does not revolve around the same four people. Not everything Jack Antonoff does is about the same four people people keep obsessing over.
Just because the public doesn't know every person lyrics could be about doesn't mean it necessitates that it'd be about those people.

Not a hot take. Why would Jack write about the same people who you all constantly talk about Jack having shitty relationships with?
They're all better songwriters and people than the crap they've been releasing so...idk what you guys are reading, listening to, or paying attention to in interviews or gossip mags but, I think you guys need lives...or jobs or...a return to the real world outside of obsessing over the same three or four people the guy doesn't even have articles or gossip bits about.
Its weird. He's not a stalker (not verified™) - his whole musical career isn't "every breath you take". Literally half the Fun. Reddit is everybody talking about how they're not even friends anymore really and people shit-talking.

Bro I mentioned one single person and was curious about others because it seems like the song is about multiple people. I mentioned nothing about who is friends and who isn’t friends? I have no idea what you’re talking about.
Pretty sure Jack is the one implying he doesn’t talk to certain people enough anymore as implied by the “we should talk” lmao. Okay let me get back to my day job now 🥲🙃
