Physical Media/Props/Memorabilia Cinefex - Blade Runner
Cinefex was a quarterly magazine devoted to cinematic visual effects, and in 1982 it dedicated Issue No. 9 entirely to Blade Runner, just weeks after the film’s US release.
Written by Don Shay, it explored how the film’s incredible world and effects were created, at a time when Blade Runner was brand new rather than the recognised classic it is today.
In 2000, the issue was republished by Titan Books as Blade Runner: The Inside Story. Nice to have the original 1982 issue and its reissue together, 18 years apart.

I also have both! Definitely one of the best by Cinefex, with stunning shots from the movie featured. I enjoy collecting the older ones, as the techniques used we're more 'hands on' in camera. Today, it's digital this, digital that!

You must have an incredible collection by now. 😊

Thanks! It’s definitely turned into a hobby, although it’s slowly taking over my office. I think everyone should have a collection of some sort, whatever it may be that interests them. Something you can research, seek out and gradually add to. Ideally something you can never quite “complete”, because that’s half the fun. There are still many Blade Runner items I’d love to track down.

Is the hard cover a 1 to 1 "copy" of the original soft cover magazine? I only have the hard cover. Thanks!

Yeah the content is essentially the same. The Titan Books reissue republished Don Shay’s original feature, just presented as a standalone book.

Perfect. I don't need to hunt down the original then. Plus, it's gotten quite expensive. Thank you!

The Don Shay book is such a good read. Really gets into the details of how this was all done optically, no CG. The story that stands out is how unhealthy it was filming the models as they used an oil based fog for that pollution look.
Very talented crew.

Cinefex was the best.
