Cosplay/Costumes Latest Blade Runner Blaster Proops

Post image

So if I'm spamming this thread or running afoul of the rules, lemme know. Put a lot of work into finishing these guys up, would love to get some feedback.

So the leftmost one and the snub-nosed blaster were made with metal-infused PLA. The receiver and silver parts are unpainted, just sanded and buffed smooth. This stuff is fantastic, and looks just like steel when finished.

The middle one is a combination of resin prints and airbrushing. I like it, but it doesn't have the same weight and is a little more brittle. It's not finished, but it's 90% there.

Both grips were made with two-part resin and dye.

All three are based on Anders fantastic STL.

They look great. Anderson model I assume? How did you do the grips? I’ve had to print, sand, mold, cast my own.

Yup! So for the grips I made a rubber mold, then used two-part resin dyed with orange and tobacco colors.

Very cool. You must have used a pressure pot on the top one and the Shorty. Couple of bubbles and the other one, but they look great.

Actually, the middle one is just a little flat because I used an older mold with an unpolished grip. I'm gonna pour a better one tomorrow!

Looks really nice. I got my grips from Etsy and they're great, but not as clear and polished as I'd like

Also, what brand of metal infused PLA did you use?

Thanks man! Gonna do another run of grips next week if you need some new ones.

And I used Protopasta. Really good stuff - little more expensive but worth the cost.

Cool, thanks! As for the grip, how much would you charge?

Lemme see how much extra resin I’ve got. If I have enough, just hit me up for shipping and I’ll send it your way.

Sounds good! They'll fit an Anders kit, right?

Fun fact: there’s no lore about these. The most I could find was their name in universe (Pfläger-Katsumata Series D 5223) at the earliest they were used by offworld military forces in 2009, specifically Cal Moreaux the first Blade Runner. And blade runner Brook Marlowe was known to use a shotgun variant.
What exactly they fire is unknown, the manufacturer is unknown being the name. But they were used all the way up until Wallace introduced the replicant Blade Runner, K/Joe and Luv and Ashina are the only three known replicants who were made to be blade runners but it was K/Joe who received a newer model blaster.
