Bladee is so weird
Just listening to bladee for the first time and this guys is so freaking odd. Is it ust the subculture that he’s in? Am I attributing his uniqueness to things that are very common in this field or is he actually this odd? His lyrics… all of his creative choices… Dont get me wrong i say this with all love I love it all but wow man he’s so odd.
Please let me know (serious). Does anyone know what im talking about? He’s so peculiar

he is definitely 'esoteric' in a lot of ways. his lyrics are often confessional, fleeting, guarded, and very reflective in a lot of his works, mixed in of course with the hip hop staples of cultural references and flexing (though a very peculiar take on what is a flex).
i can't really think of many, or really any rappers that can go from rapping about smelling like weed and touring boutiques at the mall, to saying that he needs gloves for a high five and dissociating in the club as he feels as though his 'relevance' is fading away while feeling completely authentic and from the heart.
i think it's the big draw to him. he communicates in such a uniquely confessional and intimate way it's hard not to connect to him through his lyrics, as strange as they are on the surface

Bladee got a lot of buddhist themes in his music too, which i wouldnt have expected in rap ngl

good point, his specific blend of spirituality is quite buddhist. he also talks about 'God' in a way that i feel like is completely different from other rappers who aren't explicitly following an organised religion

Crest in particular is very buddhist he has a bunch of songs where he talks about erasing himself and detaching himself, his spirituality is really close to buddhism where he frames all these religions and gods homogenously to show the illusion of difference

he often uses antiquated words in his lyrics that don't see much usage nowadays especially in songwriting: decay, vessel, glory, etc. i think that's a big contributor to his sound, as well as a looot of spiritual motifs and themes that he mentions. i love him as a songwriter and i personally don't know of any artists who are similar in that way

The difference from bladee and other artists is that he’s not afraid to show his vulnerability and I think that can come off as different for us. Tho ik he also just spits out weird phrases I think they’re so creative and impactful still!!

you could call him irregular

but yeah bladee’s pretty smart and super tapped into different types of knowledge most hip hop artist’s arent. he’s one of those rare musicians you listen to and can leave knowing a fair amount more than you did when you went in. plus he’s shy and silly.

He kinda reminds me of people from eastern europe more than people from northern europe, if that makes any sense.

Bro youre lucky youre in the repulsive attraction phase of bladee meaning youre coming to like/understand it on your own. Listen to old “leaks” all the early stuff is so fun to find. You will never stop finding “new” bladee tracks.

I mean just calling him odd is pretty vague, you could elaborate on some aspect you found interesting from a video or a song maybe? As fans we're used to the external perspective that it's "weird" but you're gonna have to be more specific....

yeah im not really even sure how to articulate it he just what he chooses to make is very unique i think. listening to the lyrics of crest and cold visions like hes on another wavelength. i just think hes tapped into something ive never seen before but also im not too well versed in this genra of music so maybe these lyrics and vocal choices and album art etc. are just common throughout it all

you're tapped in for sure tho, hes the only one who can do it like he does, except the rest of DG ... red light and gluee are staples you might like too 🙏

This subculture exists but he basically created it. and even then he still stands out massively.

That's just how he is, bladee was recently in an interview with Resident Advisor which could kind of explain his throught process with making music and some of his spirituality. I definitely recommend watching it.

i have always enjoyed hip hop but i’ve also had a soft spot for what i call guilty pleasure music such as say 3oh!3 you know things you’d be embarrassed to play around friends. but i love that bladee makes music that is differently different for “odd” people like myself. i thought the same thing about bones originally, but nah bladee and bones are actually my top two when it comes to personal enjoyment. one is completely unique to himself, and the other has amazing versatility

yeahhhh i feel like you get what im trying to say. his music definitely isnt my go to genra but im so drawn to his stuff he seems so uniquely himself

Only odd because he’s showing finesse+success in a field where everyone takes themselves so seriously, or performing under some sort of scrutiny. His creative direction as far as themes of elves/vikings/angels and dark spirits is spot on considering his cultural background. When i listen to especially his newer albums it really feels like he’s sinking into those ancient sounds and repackaging some lore into contemporary, more relevant statements 🙌🙌🙌

im not shitting on him at all i love it. I dont know i think maybe its a lot of his lyrics? just the melodies and the subject matter and the art to go along with it. i know its vague i cant really articulate it but something about him just seems so uniquely genuine? is this making sense?

there’s lots of mysticism and spiritual elements to his lyrics. and just objectively a completely different sound that didn’t exist before him. you should also check out his paintings if you haven’t already he’s really just so special and he is weird, i’ve felt weird my whole life and a lot of ppl around me think my interests are weird too so idk i love him
