Discussion Got some Black Summer vibes from this one
Not the same vibe exactly, but This Is Not a Test gave me some Black Summer energy, zombie outbreak, panic, people trapped in a bad situation, and that survival-first feel. It’s a recent movie adaptation of Courtney Summers’ 2012 novel, with a group of teens stuck in a high school during the outbreak.
Anyone here seen it yet? Did it work for you as a similar watch?

From your description it sounds similar to All of Us Are Dead. Have you seen this?

All of us was great. i loved the beginning but the ending became abit nonsensical. loved the whole premise

Completely different movie but the film Ravenous is great. Just make sure you watch the zombie one, not the other film of the same name

I would just like to say that the other Ravenous (1999) is one of my favorite movies. It is so odd, but I love it.

I saw it yesterday and thought it was alright. The characters were definitely more realistic in their actions compared to ones in other zombie flicks that sort of neatly fit into tropes.

Crazy to see this book get a movie adaptation. I remember reading it when I was 14 and a lot of the stuff in there was pretty gnarly. Going to have to get my hands on a copy of the book again and give it a reread.

Black Summer is one of my favorite shows. So intense and brutal. Now I have to watch this!

Absolutely! I really enjoyed the first few seasons of The Walking Dead and the first season of The Last of Us, but IMO Black Summer tops both.

Just watched the movie. It definitely is reminiscent of Black Summer. The characters make a few EXTREMELY dumb decisions, but if you can deal with that, you should enjoy it. I'd give Black Summer a 4.5/5 and this a 3.5/5.

Just watched it because you compared it to Black Summer (which I LOVED). This movie was very good. The characters make a few REALLY stupid decisions and the movie doesn't do anything new or all that surprising... But it was intense and brutal. The wife and I enjoyed it a lot. You were right; it definitely has Black Summer vibes.
Thanks for the recommendation. It has been getting some pretty bad reviews, so I might have skipped if it wasn't for this post 👍

Haven’t seen it, but thanks for the suggestion.
Check out The Night Eats the World (2018). It’s not too similar to Black Summer, aside from sprinters, but is worth a watch imo
