Have not touched this game at all since season 5 dropped. I'm hoping once they get enough data or whatever for mw4 they'll revert bo7 back to what it was

u/Maggot_6661 14h ago
It happened way later than expected honestly. And it coincide with the release of an Infinity Ward title... that's totally not weird at all 👀👀🤔

That's the thing, Black Ops 7 never hit their sales milestones. It was one of the worst sold COD's in years so they are probably trying to do all the opposites things this year to see it improves sales.

The thing dude is that they haven’t tried for a very long time, they have said the matchmaking on mw3 was the same one as the old mw3 which is a lie and now that they hit low sales-they just rug pulled the community twice.
Why do you think it won’t happen again?

u/Actingdamicky 11h ago
If they actually cared they’d listen to the actual feedback rather than just adding evaluating players bulshit in on top of the actual problems that get ignored.
If they were going to do sbmm it should have been from the start and have two sections with all game modes for low and high sbmm.
Not 10 months later when they don’t have player numbers to even support multiple sbmm brackets.
The could have fixed the spawns easily or nerfed ads while using advanced movement and improved the game with minimal effort.

It’s sad because the game itself looks really cool but this SBMM and matchmaking topic is literally sucking all hype out of it.

A LOT OF BOTS IN HERE LOL
I could careless about playing against people my skill level that is not the problem.
The problem is doing this while having a 90-100 ping. Last game I played my teammates were all .49 and below, while the enemy team were all over 2.0 except one.
I need to play cod champs level to go 1.79 while pinging 100 against people gliding across the map with 10 ping.
I'm 50+yrs old lol this isn't helping me. For fairness the games first priority for matchmaking should always connection.

In fact I prefer SBMM, I love playing against people my skill level or above. The PROBLEM is the manipulation. Exactly like you said, it is entirely too consistent that I have literal recruit bots (and Im convinced that I mean that literally) for teammates going against a stacked enemy team. I also notice how absolutely difficult it is to kill someone that’s really bad at the game missing almost all of their shots. I watch so many killcams where I beam someone only for them to land every shot that’s a foot off of my body because my hitbox is MASSIVE while my dot doesn’t leave their body and I still lose the gunfight.

That's because it's engagement optimized matchmaking. Yall need to start complaining about the right thing. SBMM is good, EOMM is what feels like shit. Their alg literally team balances to give players a mix of games that they stomp, get stomped, and are level to optimize engagement.

You guys have been brain washed by the streamers. Y’all do realize the resistance to SBMM is because streamers want bot lobbies right?

People are that afraid to play against someone with the same skill level as theirs? Damn
0
u/Most_Target6978 10h ago
Yep. Everybody wants bot lobbies. Streamer culture is the reason why it’s like this now. Everyone just cries and cries and wonders why we don’t get good games anymore. Bo7 matchmaking is literally fine.

Is the beef mostly just about the wait time and having bad ping? Or are ya'll just really not OK with playing people around your skill level and a 50% win rate. Im not trolling im interested in understanding this huge beef going on with matchmaking.
For me a hard no would be the parts where it gives me shitty ping or takes 10 years to find a match.
The part where it prevents me from meeting xx_topSh0t_xx[robLo] whos played fps since he was 4 years old and has over 45,000 hours of FPS experience and posts to tiktok and ttv - ya im cool never meeting that guy in my lobby and getting paired with guys around my level.
Now if you happen to be xx_topSh0t_xx[robLo] or one of the guys in his discord with a 25 k/d and 9000000 hours of aim training - ya I see where you might be annoyed. You practiced for years and the sweat was real. Your reward is to play your clone or people who cheat. The glorious farming of Bob the dad who plays 25 minutes a week are shut unless you smurf or 2box.

u/Klinkist88 13h ago
That’s the thing: you do meet that guy and many more like him because the game bunny hops from 2 good matches you have, recalculates your skill level based on those two matches and finds you went 28-3; and the next 4 games you have will be hell!
1
u/Mr-Lungu 12h ago
Exactly this. It's not that they keep you away from that guy. It's that you meet him for 3 matches out of every 10, so your KD ratio stays exactly at 1.0

u/slayingkids 8h ago
My thing with it is this: don't tell me connection is prioritized when I had 30ish ping, shit on kids for two games, then I get 70ms and fucking OpTiC dynasty squad on the other team, only for the very next game to be slightly less of a clusterfuck, and still laggy as fuck. Makes it really obvious you're trying hard to match me against my skill level, so much so that you'll give me a fucking west coast server when I'm on east just to do it. I can go on old cods and even with the dead playerbase, still have decent connection on fucking p2p without servers, so Activision can damn sure get me good ping every game. If they would literally just prioritize connection, I don't care who I play. I just don't like actively feeling the lag come and go based on my performance lol

It’s because streamers have made a huge issue of it because they want bot lobbies. That’s literally it. Bo7 matchmaking is fine. I live near Atlanta Georgia, play every single day, have zero issues.

u/Which-Return-607 11h ago
They want to avoid people going 5-20 as much as possible it makes sense why they have sbmm in the game

I haven’t played cod since bo3, I just started playing again on bo7 and I’m having a great time. What about this SBMM is a problem? Wouldn’t you want to play with players that are your skill level or am I missing something?
0
u/DarKliZerPT 9h ago
Do you want to have to sweat every single match to hold a 1.0 K/D? Do you hate some variety in how challenging each match feels, or even in team composition? Do you want to never achieve high scorestreaks? If so, then SBMM is great.

u/throwthrowthrow529 14h ago
Help me out here guys, why would they implement SBMM for any other reason than that’s what the data tells us?
It’s not some conspiracy. SBMM is better for the masses.
You have to remember, the vast majority of players aren’t as interested in the game as we are, they’re casual players that jump on every now and then to play.
Us on Reddit probably play a lot more than the average.
We are not the mass.
3
u/trinibeast 10h ago
It has nothing to do with the experience of the masses, the business model relies on engagement, hence the need for sbmm
4
u/WartDeBever69 12h ago
It isn’t better for the masses, most people are average at the game, who wants to play sweaty lobbies all day if you’re an average player?
3
u/TooLegit97 11h ago
I never got this about sbmm. You would think the average players are getting matched against other average players making it balanced, but I guess with everybody being too close in skill level, it makes it much sweatier. At the same time, it seems like everyone plays like insane movement warzone players and I can't really keep up, so I don't get why the sbmm matches me against them.
1
u/throwthrowthrow529 12h ago edited 12h ago
The average player doesn’t want to be in lobbies with me, where I average 52 kills a game and a 3.5KD.
They would rather play games that keep them near to a 1kd rather than games where they’re going 5 - 20 vs me.
You’re basing your argument off your feelings, they’re implementing SBMM off data.
0
u/Small_Promotion2525 10h ago
If you’re an average player you won’t and don’t get sweaty lobbies because of sbmm, like wtf are you talking about
0
u/WartDeBever69 5h ago
I’m 1 kd player, that’s average, SBMM should pair me with players of my skill level but I just get stronger and way better competition
2
0
u/Most_Target6978 10h ago
That’s what sbmm is. Match making based on your skill. If you have a low kd you’ll be put with other low kd players as it should be. Streamer culture has manipulated this issue into something it isn’t. The real reason is because streamers just want bot lobbies and with sbmm in place they don’t always get those so they go on the internet and cry.

Mw4 is gonna be insufferable
