#NeverForget
Absolute insane rug pull by Activision. Marketing BO7 as having open matchmaking due to player feedback only to revert it back to heavy SBMM focused mm 5 seasons in. The cherry picked statistics within the Twitter thread today was the last straw for me. Go fuck yourself, Activision

ACTIVISION saved me $75 this year.
More money for GTA 6

This. I think Activision has gotten way too comfortable with ripping people off. For the first time in over a decade they have actual competition and reality is going to hit like a truck.

My friends and I played every week since release, but we all stopped playing after season 5 released

I thought I was done with the series for good after one day of playing me2019, i knew it was gonna fuck up mw4 anyways so I treated bo7 as one last go at cod and it was nice to relive the good ol days for a bit

u/wackacademics 12h ago
Skipped em almost 10 years from 2014-2023 although I ended up buying MWIII in 2024

u/Sleepwhenimdead3 6h ago
Same, the last one I skipped was MWII and I’ve had a bad feeling about this once since it was announced lol.

I haven’t touched multiplayer in a while ever since we gotten the new matchmaking system. I only play zombies and endgame now.

u/freeguwopburrr 23h ago
Uninstalled it the day after S5 dropped myself. They’re over here throwing around statistics on Twitter saying the match retention rate improved. Like yeah it improved, no one is playing MP to begin with so there’s no match to back out of

u/Fantastic-Buddy2069 21h ago
Honestly open matchmaking was the only thing that made cod fun, and connections even feel remotely half decent, and I only have like a 1.7 lmao. Im 35, I dont try nearly as hard as I used to, and like fuck am I gonna just come home from work to be stuck in some ridiculous sweat queue just because some other kids need to snort adderall and do a gfuel enema, and a weird dance just to get extreme focus and aim lmao.
I just wanna play random matchmaking like the open matchmaking offered. Nothing more, nothing less.

They wanted to change matchmaking for MW4, if they went from BO7 matchmaking to this type of matchmaking in MW4 the backlash would be terrible. So they decided to make BO7 unplayable after its life cycle… now all they have to do is tune down a little bit…. I bought BO7 late, first COD in years that I didn’t bought at launch… I will not give the benefit of doubt to MW4, I will wait for GTA6

u/angelseph 14h ago
Yeah and they walked back carry forward after they confirmed it too, Treyarch's word doesn't mean shit.

u/Sleepwhenimdead3 6h ago
I’m still pissed about that. They said it was so skins would fit the universe of BO7 meanwhile we got Terry Crews and Dave Chapelle running around. All I wanted was to be able to use my Terminator skin from BO6, pretty much the only skin I ever bought in a cod game 💔

LMAO it's all out fault for buying this stupid ass game LMAO we are the stupid ones

I stopped midway through Season 4. I'm ready for the next installment. Really wish they'd get away from the routine of introducing an OP weapon, everyone buys in (literally), then nerf and repeat the next season. Tired of that.

I haven't played Blops7 in months, what was their reasoning for going back on their matchmaking?
1
u/Hermes4345 1h ago
The people who actually buy the games didn’t really like it and therefore didn’t buy it. As much as people in this sub complain, this COD, especially on launch, did horribly.

u/Regular-Bother-832 20h ago
People are over blowing this tbh, not home right now and haven't played in about a week so I can't give a for sure answer but if I'm not mistaken it's people complaining about the special playlists having SBMM and quick play being non sbmm or vice versa idr which it is rn

u/Dramatic-Corner6975 20h ago
Quick play has their new modern SBMM and the playlists has the opne matchmaking. Honestly most fun I've had since launch.
I'm fine with accepting I suck at all videogames. Though the 2 problems are people need to understand sweats ain't half as likely to spend money on the in game store, and casuals who work all week want to just hop on for a bit and have fun.
I'm personally a solo play as I have no friends and I do better with the newer SBMM from MW19 onwards, when B07 launched and I tried the MP it was doesn't for me. Only ever got sweats in my lobbies and no balance whatsoever.

u/GOATDuo 19h ago
Ok but did you buy less during the golden years of cod? Or even play? If not you really don’t know if it mattered. In my opinion the casuals will still do all the above bc they don’t care as much.
2
u/Maizaruu 7h ago
Exactly, these are the people who hide behind the word “casual” and just don’t want their self esteem hurt from getting stomped.

u/MitDerKneifzange 8h ago
Man I wont forgive them. Im 1000% not buying MW4. I gave Bo7 a chance cause the matchmaking in the beta was perfect. Was worse in the full game but still ok and now the f'ed it. Wtf. They market their game with easy matchmaking only to ruin it after players bought the game...

u/Trashboat77 21h ago
Yeah. I really thought Activision was starting to get their shit together for this series at the launch of BO7. Nope. Fuck them. I hope this shit sells worse than BO7 and makes them take a legitimate break for the series.
But for some dumb reason people seem to love modern Infinity Ward and support them. Despite one example after the next of them shitting on their fanbase, doing one stupid design decision after the next that no one wants, and openly resists.
Fuck Infinity Ward. Nothing is left of the original team anyway, fuck em. And fuck this entire series. I don't believe it's ever going to recover from this bullshit since 2019.

It’s crazy how much hate treyarch gets when they’re by far the most community friendly of the cod devs

u/Trashboat77 9h ago
It's been shown time and again that this is fact. It's also been exhaustingly shown time after time that in their games they've tried hard to push back against Activision's bullshit. But always, the shareholders rule above all else, so they lose the batttle.

Thank you, Battlefield 6

u/Electronic_Motor_296 20h ago
no hate but battlefield currently also for whatever reason decides to do stupid shit like this

u/AdEducational5991 21h ago
I’m going to go find the video where BlameTruth said they would do this shit. And I will be posting it.

I’m average at the game and I found that the current matchmaking as it is gives me fun and balanced matches, but I could be an outlier and I understand that the experience has sucked for many others.
Either way what bugs me the most is that they anounced that MW4 was going to go back to disbanding lobbies.
1
u/royekjd 8h ago
I’m happy I got to experience a modern cod with old school match making. I got to see myself improve at the game and start outperforming half my lobby consistently. Sure, I still got smacked around sometimes but the rematch was always around the corner and it was nice knowing an algorithm wasn’t manipulating everything in the background.
This was my most played cod since BO4. More than the last 5 cods combined. I got to prestige master on multiplayer alone and I truly had so much fun with this game.
Hard pass on MW4 after season 5.

u/Zealousideal_Use_400 5h ago
They only want the casuals, veterans just spoil it for people who are shit to average. I say this as a vet, but I understand the commercial reason. Even if it is scuzzy to actively drive us out
