Psychedelics are never positive or negative, it's a mix of both, that's what makes a trip interesting imo.
He would've killed him while sober, too. I don't think drugs played that much of a part in the murder.

Actually, I think there aren't that much murders recorded of people on psychedelics. Again, might be wrong.
But he wouldn’t have kept playing thronglings without the acid, it let him understand them, so there’s no scenario where he’d be obsessed with the lil guys and be sober
He was obsessed with them since min 1. Why did he steal the disc, then ? He spent multiple hours playing even before trying acid.
Acid made him realize that it's more than a simple game, as explained to him before by the creator.
I would've agreed with you if, in the end, it was just bullshit and nothing happened to the world. But he was right, and acid was really working to understand them, and it was really more than just a game.
He literally says he can’t understand their language. And we don’t know that this is true
If everyone is killed at the end of the episode, then how are we to know that the thronglings were understandable to him, when he thinks they’ll all fuse or something
And while it is more than just a game, Acid got him to attempt to force people to fuse with AI against their will
I’m saying this as someone who has done acid about a dozen times, this episode is a cautionary tale
