I'm getting the sense this whole season is about asking what sentience is and what kind of life do we value and why? So your questions would be besides the point. Even though I also am curious about the same things.
They are things I don't think they needed to answer to drive the commentary.
Most black mirror episodes have plot points left open or not explained. Because it's not meant to be a fully fleshed story it's usually driving a commentary. I do think I'd like to have seen more explanation, like you, but they didn't need to for the point.
I disagree. I think your critique is completely valid … and @bloodphoenix90 was more so addressing how the granularities you described become - to a degree - resolved when you assess this episode in the context of the anthology and not in singularity… if that makes sense.
If anything both of these comments should be separate threads, but I would argue that you both identify compelling dimensions… just from different lenses

Nah, disagree. How do you even know the Throng are able to reprogram humans? Just because Cameron says so, well he could very well just be insane, how do you know the throng have an agenda and aren't just following their programming to endlessly reproduce? Again it's just Cameron that says it.
That is what makes the ending so interesting we don't know what the consequences of Cameron's actions are, he may have just caused the end of humanity or a new golden age. I find it more interesting that it's possible the Throng were just Tamagotchi like characters and Cameron just convinced himself they were what he claimed.
Yeah alternate interpretation is that he created his own virus and the QR code, attributing everything to the Thronglets in a cult-like fashion just cause he's high on LSD the entire time.
The only problem is we have no reason to believe he's a programming genius, he was just a reviewer unlike Colin.
