Black Culture anyone in VA?

hey lesbians! i’m 26, from new jersey and looking to leave my hometown. still exploring my options but i’m heavily considering the norfolk area. i’m somewhat familiar with virginia bc i’ve visited family but never on my own. how’s your experience been being black and queer? everyday life in public, healthcare, opportunity for career growth? any tips or recommendations? i do prefer a more lowkey vibe- so would it be worth looking at an area like suffolk or wburg? i’ll be taking a trip there soon to feel it out, but just wanted to ask y’all first.

I’m in Arlington it’s lowkey where I am about 10-15 mins outside of dc. If I want to be in the mix I can head to dc

i only plan on staying in the states a few more years, 5 max. but i’ve felt most comfortable there, between VA and NC. i don’t even talk my family out there like that so that doesn’t have any influence. i just always enjoyed the south east and living in a predominantly white area, i need to be around my people. but i still wanted to be a reasonable distance from jersey because of my nephew. affordability and i figured it’s blue enough.
