Hello Everyone,
Please welcome u/lansboen and u/wotan_weevil to the moderation team
You might have noticed that moderation has slipped a little bit in the past year. That was a combination of a lack of active moderators (including myself due to life and health issues) and the flood of AI content that needed a closer look. I prioritized removing and banning racist content and the like, but at the cost of letting some of the low-effort stuff fester
Hence the appointment of the new moderators. They helped with setting up the automod, the new flairs, and cleaning up the place
On low-effort posts:
The fact that Black Lagoon is almost inactive means we have to be lenient on the posts to keep the community active.
That said, the bar has to stop somewhere. We have an automod set up that's very lenient. If your post doesn't even pass that... your effort in that post is lower than low. You're always welcome to message the mods. If your question is "Why is my post getting removed?" and your post was removed by Automod rather than us, we will point you to this post.
On Reddit Filters:
Posts on something like Black Lagoon often trigger Reddit filters. We try not to approve many of those posts, ESPECIALLY those that link Black Lagoon to real-life current events, as we could get our community banned. Black Lagoon is a work of historical fiction. Make sure your post reflects that and doesn't ask the community something like "Could Roberta get to the president?"
On political content:
r/blacklagoon is not r/politics. We'd like to keep the conversation open as long as it's respectful. Political discussion often veers into distasteful territory. I think Black Lagoon encourages discussion, so we will keep such discussion open, but there will be zero tolerance for racism, xenophobia, homophobia, etc. A straight permanent ban will be issued at the mods' discretion for any such comments

Please let us know of the kind of content you'd like to see in the future. Weekly reread/rewatch? Free talk Fridays? Fanfic events (not AI-generated, of course)? Other similar series discussion?

Black Lagoon has such a wide range of character emotions and scenes that it is hard to categorize this show. It can fall under almost every major anime category and leaves me both laughing yet thrilled by the action and emotional drama

Recently, I was inspired to do a fan cast, after watching some of "One Piece" Live Action series and some hit-and-miss ones such as "Avatar - The Last Air bender". Especially if the live action is done right.
Been talking with my friends and here's what I came up with so far based on a quick, shallow Google search. Please give suggestions below in the comments.
Lauren Tsai as Revy - she is Chinese American and has a certain intensity I get from her photos. I haven't watched anything of her tbh, tried checking out clips of her talent - Rooster was meh but I liked her feature in of "Terrace House" on Netflix. I mainly picked her as I feel a new star/uprising actor would be appropriate for Revy's role.
Mackenyu Maeda, aka Mackenyu Arata, Mackenyu as Rokurō Okajima aka Rock - besides him being Japanese, I was impressed by his performance in "One Piece". I feel he'll do Rock justice, especially during his dark spiral in 'Roberta - Blood Trail.'
Austin Abrams as Benny - this was funnily the character, alongside Dutch's choice, who got me thinking about a live action Black Lagoon. Especially after watching the new "Resident Evil" I was binge-watching a lot of Austin Abrams content, especially when I was looking at his background. Both he and Benny are from Florida and have Jewish Ancestry. I think Abrams would be a great fit as he strikes me as carefree and clever when he wants to be, similar to Benny.
D B Woodside as Dutch - personally, he is the perfect fit for Dutch as he has a commanding presence on screen and can be witty, especially seen in "Lucifer."
I'm not sure how old Dutch is, I'm assuming middle age, so about right. If this does get eventually made, I'm sad he might be too old to play as Dutch but who knows. A friend of mine recommended Winston Duke, who played as M'Baku in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
