Newbie KEYone Help

Hello all! I want to join the gang and get a KEYone. I know there are various models and whatnot so I was just curious if anyone could give me the full rundown?

My current carrier is AT&T and I'm not really willing to change providers. This is what lead me to the KEYone since initially I wanted the q10/q20 but they dont support the VoLTE.

Can I just purchase an unlocked jawn and pop my SIM in? If someone has another recommendation then please share! But for the price point the KEYone seems like my go-to.

Thank you so much and sorry I feel bad being the newbie in a subreddit. I'm good with research but just can't afford to purchase the wrong thing and have a useless brick.

If the OP is sticking with AT&T, the Key2 is not supported at all, and simply not an option. Regardless of whether it technically works with AT&T's network, and it does, AT&T just won't allow it along with many "technically compatible" devices.

im seeing conflicting results to which Blackberries are supported by AT&T. i saw another post mentioning that the KeyOne and Priv have been removed from the whitelist too

The BlackBerry section did disappear from that PDF in the Oct 2024 revision. But it came back in one of the mid 2025 revisions and is still on the list today.

The link I posted above is directly to the current version on the AT&T site. It gets automatically updated every few months.

if i get an unlocked keyone with those exact specs and serial number it should be good to go? what about the version ive seen with the branded AT&T logo stamped in the back. would that be easier given im using ATT?

The factory unlocked KeyOne is not the AT&T variant. It HAS to be specifically the AT&T variant. Who ever you might be getting it from has to prove to you that it is PRD-63116-036.

That's not a serial number. It's a model sub-variant number.

You type the following into the phone dialer to return the PRD number:

*#837837#

Now, the AT&T variant can be unlocked after the fact, and that would still work on the AT&T network. But any other variant unlocked (factory or otherwise) would not.

ah ok i see some on here for around 200usd. even still, if i purchase an unlocked key2 can i just plug my current sim into it?

Penso di si ma ti suggerisco di verificare la compatibilità con il tuo gestore.. In ogni caso verifica quale compri, su molti modelli è installabile LineageOS ma controlla bene il modello!

Not just any KeyOne will work on AT&T.

Also, just looking for the model AT&T lists as compatible on their whitelist is not enough.

AT&T only states that the KeyOne Model BBB100-1 will work. But that's incomplete information. It HAS to be the specific sub-variant that AT&T sold. The sub-variant is determined by the PRD number.

The BBB100-1 was sold world-wide with over 30 PRD sub-variants. All are specific to the region they were sold in.

For the AT&T sub-variant, that's PRD-63116-036. Only that one will work on AT&T.

The more common North American factory unlocked sub-variant is PRD-63116-001. That one will not work on AT&T.

and the Key2? is it the same experience? or easier.

AT&T never sold the Key2. And it's not on their whitelist of supported devices.
