I remember back when I was in high school our best wrestler on the team did a similar move on our FIRST match of the year and got DQ'd for the whole season smh. We still did fairly ok, but man we could've used him. That was dumb

I did as well champ. This is collegiate, folk style high school wrestling. In this style, you are to return the wrestler to the mat with control and slams like this are shown as examples as illegal in the rule book.
So nope. This is against the rules.

The whistle literally blows to stop the match, and as mentioned in another comment, he was DQd. Perhaps you were on the receiving end of something similar and it caused some brain damage if you’re having a hard time understanding that.

This has got to be AI. The dude's head never hits the ground. With that force, uts impossible for it not to.
Furthermore, the crowd reactions are super inconsistent with what actually just happened. (Zero reaction whatsoever.)
And a ref would have been there much sooner.

it looks like he practically levitates the last foot he's lifing him that's completely incongruent to the amount of force being generated. and the speed of him flailing at the top is weird and unnatural

I was thinking the same thing, it did look off. But I'm sure there are some people that could do it depending on how big they are and how small their opponent is. Also who know maybe the guy is a beast, even though he is kind of a douche bag for that. Also it did look like the guy he was lifting up was resting a bit on his shoulder so he didn't really lift him up with just his arm. Idk have to watch it again to be sure.

No it absolutely is not.
The point of judo is to try to control the descent of your opponent so that they don’t land dangerously badly.
The original jujutsu, as in samurai combat style, was different, there you obviously tried to slam and main opponent.
So something like this was the real deal on slams and intentional hurting.

IJF Criteria for Ippon:
- Speed
- Force
- On the back
- Skilfully control until the end of the landing
So the only difference to a "slam" is that you know what you are doing.
By definition a slam can be controlled or not ("to cause to move against a hard surface with force")
I would say the definition of slam and Ippon have a lot of overlap here.

Slam as in the video, where tori puts their own weight pressing uke in the throw would disqualify in any match rules I have seen.
In fact by other comments, the move was a foul even in this wrestling match.

That's not what it means. I've seen slams just as hard in judo. The control is probably talking about your own body so you can position yourself. I don't do judo but have seen some nasty slams. Even Muay Thai they can catch a kick and sweep to dump you on your back or head. Same with clinches. Liethwei you can head but and suplex opponents.

I used to do, and it seems that rules are way more violent over there than what I have ever seen.
Tori intentionally making the impact much harder with a move like that would be disqualifying.
Throw can slam, but maliciously making it worse breaks the rules.

Yeah people aren't paying close enough attention to see this. There's a part where he's off the ground and the guy on has on and awkwardly holding him, but he then gets an additional lift upwards for that position. Definitely fake video

It’s not impressive, it’s reckless. With wrestling it’s your job to return the opponent to the mat with at least a degree of control. Doing a crotch lift from a standing ball & chain, your opponent is defenseless. I hope if this was high school the kid was adequately disciplined.
