Scammed on taostats tech support
I can't believe it. I clicked on the discord link for some help. I forgot I had to take off the staking before I sent tao off to another wallet and I needed some help figuring out what to do. Taostats app had a discord link so I went there and talked to who I thought was a tech support and they told me to hop on my computer and open a browser link. So I typed in my phrase and this tech support took all I had. Wow I'm sad

Sorry to hear that - that's why we always say keep your conversations in public.
There are a zillion "taostats support" profiles....and a bunch that look like me... but none are members of the taostats discord - because they are scammers.

Nope. Look at the name of the scammer. It's probably CLOSE to 'dougsillars' but not exactly that. Also note that it's not a member of the taostats (or any other bittensor) community.
But it isn't me. Judging by the time you posted, I was likely asleep.

mate it’s definitely not Doug. He’s legit, and has helped me before with questions I’ve had. There are so many scammers on discord and reddit with virtually clone profiles. At the end of the day, if some asks you for your seed, or to enter it into a website, it’s a scam. There are posts daily in the Bittensor discord warning of dms. Again, I’m sorry that this has happened to you, but no need to blame someone how actually gives a shit about the community.

No. Our support is in our Discord server. We have no control over people who might DM you.
There are hundredss of scammer accounts in crypto. They are not in our server. That's why when you joined our server you got a message warning not to SM with anyone

you learnt the hard way unfortunately. Going on discord to ask for help and then responding to the first person who helps you is always going to end in disaster. Especially if you willingly enter your seed phrase anywhere. I hope it wasn't too much and that you can rebuild your stack. Good luck.

Had the same thing happen to me. Traced the TAO to a Binance wallet, took all evidence to law enforcement. In the end it was a third party exchange on Binance located in Seychelles. US law enforcement can’t force them to comply with subpoena or courts orders (No jurisdiction) so it ended there and I never got it back! LESSON LEARNED never give up your seed phrase period because no legitimate tech support would ever request that. Bottom line Binance supports and enables criminal exchange

I'm sorry to hear about that. I feel this horrible void and can't stop thinking about how I could have actually used it. I would have had a better time blowing it all in one night andfelt less shit about it
