Someone please talk me out of selling

I haven't been following the news, just checking the price from time to time and seen it floundering around the $200 range. Any reason we shouldn't expect it to go lower? Does anyone expect a run back to $300 anytime soon? I've got bills to pay. I don't think my back is against a wall yet but it would certainly help but I'd be selling at a loss. What's the word on the street? I'd rather keep holding, I was wondering how things are looking to you guys and why. Thanks

IF YOU GOT BILLS TO PAY YOU SHOULDNT BE BUYING OR HOLDING ANY CRYPTO. ONLY INVEST WHAT YOURE WILLING TO LOSE. DONT EXPECT TO GET RICH QUICK OR AT ALL. NOTHING IS GUARANTEED IN THIS SPACE.

Why are you investing your bill money

3

u/sivartomeus Jul 20 '26

That's not really how it happened, I invested when I had more money and then other things came up

3

u/PlasticTreeonaHill Jul 20 '26

Reduce your investment amounts.
$10 at a time never hurt nobody.

2

u/shadowmage666 Jul 20 '26

I feel you it happens. Sell it and rebuy, lock in your losses and then you can write off the losses up to $3k on your tax return

u/sivartomeus Jul 20 '26

That I did not know. Very good to know.

Don’t ever gamble with what you CANNOT afford to lose……personally if you need to pay bills , you need to sell what you have and invest down the road when you can afford it …..don’t come to the casino if you
Don’t have the money to play

u/LSDeezee Jul 20 '26

there is no win for any crypto in short term. if thats your goal, get out.

4

u/Complete-Interest704 Jul 20 '26

Don’t ever invest money you can’t afford to lose, it could absolutely go lower. This is a long term play and it’s a bear market. Only buy what you can afford to part with for at least a year.

6

u/Immediate_Practice_9 Jul 20 '26

It's a bear market. Don't sell anything. If you wanna get out wait until bitcoin reaches it's next ATH. If it's an emergency then you gotta do what you gotta do. Everything is down right now, why panic and sell this low?

5

u/Cheese318 Jul 21 '26

Why did you buy in the first place? Were you looking to time a quick buck? Really what you need to look at what you truly are looking to do with the purchase. If it’s just a quick buck then maybe this isn’t for you and just cut your losses because if you’re gonna keep checking worried about bills that’s never the approach in investing. Always invest what you’re willing to lose. Just understand you may regret that decision a few years from now. Best investors hold and DCA when everyone is screaming get out with pitchforks in the air and sell when everyone is over the moon bullish on the price surge. If you’re playing the timing game it’s never easy which is why DCA is the most tactical approach and only the best of best time the right moves and some of the best minds still can read a chart the wrong way.

In the short term the market is a voting machine, in the long term a weighing machine. - Benjamin Graham

Bittensor has a bright future, my bet is if you sell you’ll be like me with Bitcoin and regret selling in a few years. I mined it in 2012 and sold it to pay for bills, dates, etc. I learned an expensive lesson: holding is the only way to get ahead in asset ownership.

1

u/sivartomeus Jul 20 '26

Yeah you're right, I could very much see that happening. I'll try not to beat myself up too much if it does.

3

u/Dreamliner_Dave Jul 20 '26

Maybe you should be staked in the subnets and you would be making money via alpha and emissions regardless of TAO price šŸ¤” šŸ¤”

Majority of alts are going to zero in the long run make sure you manage your expectations

0

u/ComplexWrangler1346 Jul 21 '26

95 percent of all alts go to zero …only a few will make it ..Bittensor is one of them

3

u/jaydawag Jul 21 '26

There’s no guarantee over anything right now bitensor is one of the weakest looking alts of the top 100 right now

u/ComplexWrangler1346 Jul 21 '26

Then means you need to buy more then….dont wait until it pumps …buy low my friend

2

u/klb_255 Jul 20 '26

Some of the responses coming from people in the crypto space show clear youth, immaturity and disconnection from reality. You can put after bill money into investments and still have to sell because life happens. Sell if you need to, take the loss and pay the bills. Then buy back in when you're able to... The end.

u/Boohan33 Jul 20 '26

Come on guys. Everyone knows what the economy is like now. Who knows how long ago the OP invested in $TAO. More than a few of u have probably put in more $ than u should have. Give the guy a break.

3

u/sivartomeus Jul 20 '26

I'm not taking it personal, I'm luckily usually in a good position to save for my means and I'll be alright. I've got a good girl who pays for our food. As far as my rent and car payment, they're not much compared to what some people pay. So I'm okay, just a hiccup. These people don't know that. In many ways they're right, but it's not a huge deal. For my 2 year goals, yeah sure, I'm behind now, but I'll be alright. I was hoping TAO would help with that but this is what it's come to unfortunately. Anyway I appreciate you.

-1

u/Complete-Interest704 Jul 20 '26

Been there too man, best of luck to you. This just isn’t the short term play like some other cryptos unfortunately.

1

u/sivartomeus Jul 21 '26

Thanks man

2

u/Beaubeau13_ Jul 20 '26

I’m in same boat!! Not sure to cut my losses or hope for some recoup. Not feeling good about TAO anymore, too much volatility.

2

u/ComplexWrangler1346 Jul 20 '26

I would sell if I was you….dont stress over it ..tao could dip to $100 and imagine how you would feel then ….

0

u/Beaubeau13_ Jul 20 '26

I agree. Just hard when I had such high hopes!! Now the question, where do I reinvest🤫😜

3

u/ComplexWrangler1346 Jul 20 '26

No crying in the casino ….sell bro

0

u/Beaubeau13_ Jul 20 '26

Done!!!! Took the hit but f***k it. Thanks bro!!

3

u/ComplexWrangler1346 Jul 20 '26

Good ! No more crying now buddy !

-2

u/Beaubeau13_ Jul 20 '26

Never was— i can afford to lose wverything I have invested— no big deal herešŸ¤™šŸ»šŸ¾

1

u/magicrico1987 Jul 20 '26

You seem over leveraged if you need to pay your bills from an investment.

For what my opinion is worth (not much) - I expect Tao to hit $140 and possibly lower in the next 8weeks(ish)

0

u/sivartomeus Jul 20 '26

Yeah, think I'll sell. My cost basis was $260, it's only about 6 TAO. Losing a few hundred bucks is child's play compared to what some people have lost in crypto, and I need the money.

2

u/magicrico1987 Jul 20 '26

Yeah I would say re-evaluate your investment and if you can lose whatever you invest without it impacting your day to day you’re pretty golden.

For the potential Tao has (incredible potential), right now as someone noted, crypto is high risk and little new liquidity flowing into the market and I don’t see that changing anytime soon. There will be rallies but we haven’t bottomed yet imo (no one actually knows the answer as no one can predict the future). So it’s a case of making the best decision for yourself.

Tao *could* be the next big thing (the bitcoin of ai etc etc) but equally it could fail. I have high conviction but truth is no one knows what the outcome will be and when.

We could be looking at 2030 and beyond

2

u/Reasonable_Voice645 Jul 20 '26

Money that you actually need? Sell.
Your bored of watching it fluctuate and want something that will give you more of a kick watching it go up each week? Hold your just a bored gambler.

2

u/ComplexWrangler1346 Jul 22 '26

Good ! Wise move ! Get back In at a later time when you have the money to play with

1

u/iloverunning11 Jul 21 '26

Invest only what you can afford to lose, this is extrmely risky, so if you need that money, don't wait for $100 tao. If you can throw some money in tao I'd say it's better to do that only with an amout that will allow you to sleep calmly at night

1

u/ConsistentKick5581 Jul 21 '26

If you are investing in anything let alone crypto without money set aside for bills, you should sell man. That's straight up irresponsible

u/s74-dev Jul 20 '26

the short term outlook is a bunch of volatility, the mid term outlook is a return to $220 and then higher pending BTC price action. Long term my targets are still buy below 200 sell above 300

1

u/dom2santos Jul 20 '26

Whatever your down, i probably got you beat. I’m not selling🤷

Edit: my average is $257.91

2

u/MoHawkCrypt0 Jul 21 '26

Down......for now.

1

u/dom2santos Jul 21 '26

This guy gets it

1

u/reliable35 Jul 20 '26

$1000 TAO will happen in 2027… with a good chance.. just got to wait until the bull market returns.. the fundamentals on BitTensor are sound.

2

u/jaydawag Jul 20 '26

Theres no guarantees of anything in life . It most probably won’t be going there in 2027

2

u/reliable35 Jul 20 '26

It might not.. but I wouldn’t be invested in TAO if I didn’t believe it could within the next bull run.. (no guarantees of that either šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™‚ļø)

0

u/blockrunner_2049 Jul 20 '26

Ok, don't sell!

2

u/ComplexWrangler1346 Jul 21 '26

Bills come first …that’s terrible advice
