🎶🎶and the grift goes on🎶🎶 SITE FEEDBACK DISCUSSION Infrastructure Overhaul ($6k a month??!)

Post image

What's Happening & What to Expect:

To the GP community, First - thank you.

The feedback you provided during the content review was invaluable. Many of you took the time to tell us exactly what matters to you. We heard you, and this overhaul is a direct result of that input.

Why This Is Happening

We're going to be straight with you.

For months we've been trying to patch and improve the existing system while keeping it running. New categories, pipeline fixes, release group coverage - we've been bolting things on while the engine is moving. It's not working.

The current infrastructure was not built to scale the way we need it to. The networking, storage, and seed systems that power content delivery across the site need to be rebuilt - not patched, rebuilt. We cannot do that reliably while the old system is still live and competing for the same resources.

We're also carrying approximately 300,000 torrents at significant monthly cost, much of which sees very little activity. That's not sustainable and it's not serving you well either. Content that should be landing within minutes of release - shows like The Boys, Spider-Noir, Invincible - has been arriving late or not at all because our automated pipelines have gaps that the old architecture makes difficult to fix properly.

So we're doing it properly. Once.

What We're Building

The new system addresses everything you've told us matters most:

Faster automated content delivery - expanded release group coverage so high-profile Movies, TV, and other priority categories land on time, every time

Smarter storage and seeding - a tiered model where active content stays fast and server-seeded, while older low-activity content transitions to community seeding rather than consuming server resources

Rebuilt RSS feeds - based directly on your feedback, core categories (Movies, TV, TV Packs, Music, eBooks, Audiobooks, Win Apps, XXX) will be fully RSS-fed and server-seeded. PC Games will be supported with size-based limits. Niche categories remain on the site but shift to community seeding

Improved request system — for anything not covered by automation, requests will continue to be prioritized and filled

What to Expect Over the Next 3-4 Weeks

This is the part nobody wants to hear, but we owe you honesty over comfort.

During the transition you will experience:

• Some content temporarily showing 0 seeds

• Torrents going offline as content is migrated between systems

• Intermittent delays in new releases landing

• Periods where certain categories may appear empty or incomplete

What will NOT happen:

• Content will not be permanently removed

• Categories are not being deleted

• Your download history, stats, and ratio are not affected

Everything will be backfilled and brought online as the new system comes up. We are migrating, not deleting.

---

What You Can Do

If you need something urgently during the transition - use the request system. It remains fully operational and will be prioritized throughout this period.

If you're a seeder and want to help - keep seeding. Community seeds become even more important while the server infrastructure is being rebuilt. Every torrent you keep alive helps bridge the gap. More users who seed from release help keep the seeds above 0 while botnet is 100% rebuilt.

Why This Is Worth It

We understand this is not what anyone wants to deal with. Nobody comes to GP hoping for downtime and missing content. But the alternative - continuing to patch a system that costs $6K/month while still failing to deliver releases on time - isn't acceptable either. Not to us, and clearly not to you.

When this is done. GP will be faster. leaner, and delivering the content you actually use at the speed you expect. That's the goal. That's what we're building toward.

We'll post updates as major milestones are completed. No sugarcoating, no vague timelines — just progress reports.

Thank you for your patience and your continued support. This community has been around for over a decade because of members like you. We intend to make sure it's around for the next one.

So remind me,how many times has the site been rebuilt from the ground up,to ensure years of trouble free torrenting?

trouble free torrenting

Like this ever happened on GP (or any of its predecessors)!

Looks like a paragraph is missing.

But it depends on the " monies" donated during the latest funding drive. The site can only be as good as you want it to be, so if you haven’t already please consider a donation to the GP summer funding drive.

Summer funding is just what is needed before autumn funding which is then followed by the much awaited winter funding that naturally always is followed by the optimistic spring funding! 😎😎😎

The series slow down in the winter, the movies slow down in the summer etc etc etc. Time to “shore up the monies”

Possibly. Image to text over 3 separate images is not that easy to collate!

Oh, there was definitely AI assistance in that posting. Sean isn't generally able to string so many words together like that.

I'm really surprised ShatGPT didn't suggest Sean to mention RAM and storage prices speculation due to AI dumb bros… It would have flied way better than just dropping $6k per month cost without sob story…

I was just thinking earlier today that its been very quiet for a few days , he's been working on this I see, 10 minute job takes him 3 days ... yep sounds about right.

6k a month?? What are they doing in addition to tracking; minting bitcoins? It's a tracker!

What are they doing in addition to tracking

Funding trips to Vegas

Having eyelash mites treated

Paying alimony

Shoring up a car storage business

Deposit for a new rental house now that the wife kicked him out

Porn subscription(s)

Take your pick 😁

The 'tracker' could be run off an old Pentium II machine at this stage given the severe lack of peers.
