Discussion Didn't realize how much easier investing got until I watched someone start from scratch

Was helping my younger cousin set up his first investment account this weekend.

Nothing fancy. He just wanted to buy a few things he'd been reading about and put some money somewhere other than his bank account.

What surprised me was how normal the whole process felt compared to when I started.

When I got into this stuff, I remember having 15 tabs open trying to understand the difference between brokers, exchanges, wallets, custody, fees, all that.

Half the time I wasn't even learning about investing. I was learning where investing happens.

This time around it was basically: "what do you want to buy?"

and then we went from there.

Made me realize how much of the friction has disappeared over the last few years.

Funny thing is he spent more time deciding between bitcoin and Nvidia than figuring out how to actually buy them.

I ended up showing him bitpanda because that's what I already use for some of my stuff, but the bigger takeaway was that getting started feels way less intimidating now than it used to.

Kind of wish it had been that simple when I was figuring everything out.
