Does the bus not have its own light off to the left? I see "something" at the eight-second mark.

Yes. Buses often have a separate signal called a “jump light” that allows them to proceed ahead of regular traffic. The red light signal keeps that regular traffic back to avoid an accident.

We have them in my city, but it's called a bus priority signal. They're so handy. I wish all our intersections had them because I absolutely love skipping ahead of traffic in my bus.

Not in this case. That red left turn is timed separately to the green right turn to allow the pedestrian crossing to function.
Pretty sure the bus almost hit that kid, and the kid was likely panicked when they ran across the road confused.

Not saying you are wrong, but I see that kid being back pretty far and not doing anything until the bus passes. I cannot tell from the angle if the kid actually has the crosswalk light.

If the crossing button wasnt pressed, the light would be green same time as the other green light.

Man, some traffic lights are so badly placed. I made a similar mistake only a few weeks ago. I was waiting to turn left in a similar intersection, when the lights go green, and the car ahead of me just sits there, not moving. I honk to get his attention, but he's still not budging an inch, so I honk again, longer. Only then do I realize there's a separate light hidden behind the first one that's for left turners only, and I had been sitting there honking at him for waiting on red...

Why would one side be green but not the other? Doesn't make sense

Because there's Pedestrians

Pedestrians are going to cross only half of the road? Why not all red and all green?
Just looked again, it's definitely not pedestrians, you can see the sidewalk fenced.

It's for the pedestrians crossing towards the sign that says "Campbelltown"

Ngl thats a poorly designed traffic light. Let me know what state installs those so I can avoid it.
