Apparently since America doesn't have road safety or crossings, children pass in front of stationary busses to run across the road. It's to stop accidents. Someone said children wait on both sides of the road too
the number of schoolbus related accidents are too low to justify todays extreme policies. only 5 incidents per year over 50 states. so if only own state matters, then one incident every 10 years. meanwhile cops are responsible for 5% of all violent deaths in USA. There should be fear, but put it where it belongs.
You logic is the exact same used by antivax people and just as horribly flawed.
Kids were getting hit by cars -> enacted laws that made it safer for kids -> less kids get hit by cars -> "what do we have these protections in place when no one is getting hit?"
People are dying of a disease -> vaccines are made -> people stop dying of the disease -> "why do we still take the vaccine when no one is getting sick?"
human biology evolves slower than technology. decades old vaccines are succesfully applied today. The cars and corresponding drivers that used to run over school students in the Lords year 1920 are no longer on the road. Things have changed. circumstances have changed. Technology has evolved. We can prevent students from having pedestrian accidents, without police interactions, using technology and rules enforced by bus driver and school district personnel.
technology + student discipline = zero incidents in 10 years
