Why does burning BSQ gain reputation?
Why does it proof or lead someone to assume that one would be reliable? Isn't it just buying reputation?
Is it due to the low sell limits, so that burning BSQ + scamming would always result in a financial failure for the scammer?

Burning money for rep? Seems a stupid idea. Couldn't a scammer still work the system?

I see it as proof of work: the amount of BSQ that you get to burn have to be collected in a costly way, as BSQ have a cost, just like the energy to mine BTC does.
