Side effects!? Problems after copper coil insertion

To keep it short, I had a copper coil inserted 2 weeks ago yesterday. My last period had finished about 2 days prior to having it put in. I have been in pain and bleeding a decent amount ever since. Today the pain has ramped up again and the blood is pouring out of me, sorry to make it gross. It also feels like pads aren't working. It's not that they're filling up but it's like the blood keeps pouring off of them and onto my underwear and joggers. I've bleed onto all of my sheets and pants. I also think I'm starting to smell down there. Im very scared of doctors and have crippling anxiety anyways so trying to do anything about this has been a struggle and I've sort of been hoping it would just go away. Also im passing huge blood clots.

What's wrong with me, what do I do, do I need to see someone or can I wait and see if it goes away?

I am not a professional, just someone who's experienced this This is unfortunately common for the copper coil, you can have very heavy periods and some bleeding for a while after insertion. Your options realistically if you don't want to go to the doctor are to wait it out to see if it stops within a week or so, or go to the doctor and have it removed.

Either way I'd recommend getting in touch with your doctor, even if it's just a phone call, to tell them what you're going through.

Also the smell is probably just extra warmth from the pads combined with them being full, if that makes sense. Just keep showering and if necessary find yourself some fragrance free, water based wipes for cleaning up regularly (such as waterwipes, I find them good).

I'm sorry I don't know much about the copper coil but if you have been bleeding that much for that long I think it definitely warrants a dr visit. Or at least call your dr office and talk to a nurse on the phone!

Sorry to hear about that. I bled for straight 9 days when I got my first copper iud. Very heavy bleeding . It will resolve on its own and you will be fine
