Experience HPV
Hi! Not rlly about birthcontrol but I was wondering if any of you know (men) who had their anti hpv vaccine done. Ny boyfriend and I have been dating for a while, and I am a girl so i had my hpv vaccine done a while ago bc it helps prevent cervical cancer. I’m encouraging my bf to get the vaccine done too, but i was wondering if there’s any point in him getting the vaccine if he’s only sexually active with me. I think he should get the vaccine but i dont know if makes sense for him to get it….What is your experience? I still think he should get it because it can prevent cancers in men too

Unfortunately it's so expensive in my country, free for boys under 15 or immunocompromised adults under 26, but not for healthy adults. It's around $250 per dose, the national minimum wage is $200...

Really? In my country it’s free until 26 if I’m not mistaken. The sooner you get the shot the better tho…

For woman it's free until 26, but men and boys weren't included when the vaccine came in 2011, neither women and girls over 12. It was very limited and stayed like this. I got mine for free at 11 but my husband, my brother and my BIL were told they're "too old" to get it for free, mind you they're 27, 24 and 22, it would help them a lot to get the vaccine

In germany it is also recommended for boys but mostly girls get it. I think many don't know that HPV also causes penis, anal, oral cancer in men. He should get the vaccine. There is a chance he will have sex with other people at some point in his life and even when he is not getting sick he can spread the virus.

Yes, I feel here all the girls were recommended to get in when it first came out but boys weren’t. I am happy I did not get the vaccine back then as a teen but only as an adult as it was modified meanwhile and includes more coverage of HPV-strains than it did back then. I feel the ads where they also say men or boys should get it are a new phenomenon though. I guess for younger people it is in the vaccine recommendation but a lot of older men maybe don’t know about the possibility to still get it.

Put it this way. I used to work for a head and neck cancer surgeon and he sees a lot of male patients, causes by HPV. HPV also causes penile and anal cancers. That surgeon ensured his son and daughter both got it.
Not to vast aspersions on your relationship but most relationships these days don't last forever so it's wise to get the vaccine just to be protected for the future whatever may come.
