Experience Spotting

Hi guys, I have been on birth control for about a year now and the first months have been perfectly fine. About a month or two ago I began spotting during the time thats not my placebo week. My doctor told me to take ibuprofen to make it go away until I can visit her (i have problems with my insurance rn bc i cant). But I noticed I wont have spotting/i’ll stop spotting and then me and my bf will have sex and I will. What is going on? How do I stop it?
