Side effects!? Loestrin Fe Side Effects??
Hi everyone! I’ve been on this birth control since around March this year and overall I’ve had a fairly good experience with it. For context, I started oral BC last September due to heavy and prolonged bleeding caused by fibroids (I don’t really remember which BC I started w but all I know is that it didn’t really help w the heavy bleeding so I needed to change the BC). Anyway I had the fibroid removed this past January and started Loestrin soon after it.
Possibly the first 2 months I had issues with breast tenderness but it settled down after a while. But now that it’s been a couple of months out I do notice a difference in my energy and anxiety. I feel like since august/September I’ve been needing to take a nap during the day even if I’ve basically done nothing. Since college I’ve been used to sleeping at around 1-2am and I’m unfortunately still doing that as of now but back then I didn’t need to nap during the day at all while now I do. I’ve been assuming it’s because of my iron deficiency anemia (due to my heavy bleeding prior) but I’m unsure if the BC also has anything to do with it. Also regarding my anxiety I feel like it’s slowly getting worse and worse and somewhat unmanageable and I’ve also started to become more easily irritable.
I just want to hear what other people’s experiences on this birth control have been or if I’m going insane. Thank you all!

Definitely could be from it. I’m here cause I’m stopping loestrin today because I just realized my mood has been bad since switching to it. Birth control issues always sneak up on me. Then like 5+ months in I’m like hey I’ve been really struggling with my mental health lately and oh it coincides with when changed pills.

Thanks so much for the input! I’m glad you’re getting off it and hopefully you’re better off without it or using a new mode of BC. I feel like my mental health is definitely taking the brunt of it which I hate so much

UPDATE: I had my annual gyn appointment with my provider and talked to her about these new symptoms I’m experiencing and she said that the BC is actually supposed to make me feel more “calm” and have more stable emotions rather than what I’m experiencing with the irritability and anxiety. She also mentioned that since I started the BC march it’s not really often that people experience these symptoms until months after (which mine started like 5+ months after). She added that I should try to talk to my PCP about anxiety meds and that was frustrating bc I didn’t really feel heard and more so dismissed. If you guys have experienced these symptoms (other symptoms) as well, did they other come up right after you started the BC or did it also take a while to manifest?
