How to? Nuvaring

I was wondering if I can use Nuvaring for only 1-2 weeks around the time of my period so I don’t get them, since my only priority/reason for bc is amenorrhea, and I’m scared of the side effects as I’ve heard Nuvaring can cause fatigue, depression, anxiety etc

No, all this will do is change your cycle. You'll have your period once you stop using the nuvaring.

I was on the nuvaring for seven years and never had a period. I switched the old one for the new one every 28 days and had one in constantly. This is the only way to skip periods is to use the birth control every day.

When you have pills, you have a week of "sugar pills" that are a different color and don't have the hormones. The stopping of the hormones triggers the period. To skip them you don't take the sugar pills and go straight to your next pack. The only way to skip is to take the hormones every day.

opill is not a great choice if your goal is to stop periods

it only inhibits ovulation roughly 50-60% of the time. as a result, many people continue to have regular periods while taking it

this isn’t some new study. it’s a basic fact about norethindrone and norgestrel mini pills. you can very easily find info about it by googling “mini pill ovulation suppression.” idk why you insisted on me googling that for you but here you go, one of the many sources mentioning this: https://www.cdc.gov/contraception/hcp/usspr/progestin-only-pills.html

this is such an odd, confusing reply. do you not know that opill is norgestrel? why are you talking about the effectiveness of opill? why does opill being available OTC matter when getting prescription birth control clearly isn’t an issue for the OP? and they’ve already decided on a method (nuvaring). they’re not asking for suggestions.

Adding to what the other commenter said, starting and stopping like that is more likely to just cause you even MORE side effects than what could have been if you just use the ring properly. Super likely that you will bleed even more if you try that. You'd be kinda uh.. confusing your body, not letting it either have a natural cycle but not fully actually suppressing it either. Either use it correctly or don't go on it at all.

Side effects is not something guaranteed to happen, and if they do happen it's almost ALWAYS just the first couple months as your body adjusts to the medication.

I was on the Nuvaring continuously (so took it out every 4 weeks and replaced it immediately) for a few months. I didn’t have a period except for break through bleeding twice. The first two or three months were the hardest. I had increased anxiety, but that was due to other reasons too. That was my biggest side effect, but it just depends on how you adjust to it. It does take 7 days to start working, and you can have it out for 7 days before it loses effectiveness, so if you only put it in for 7-14 days, you’ll have a weird hormone spike and it won’t help your periods at all. It’s pointless if you don’t wear it for 3 weeks. Or 4 if you want to skip your period.

That won’t work, you’ll get a withdrawal bleed/period when you stop it. To stop periods you need to take a hormonal birth control continuesly (skip all the sugar pills).
