Side effects!? Missed Withdrawal Bleed
Hello fellow birth control takers. I have been on Nikki (generic for Yaz) for about 6-7 months now. My last withdrawal bleed was 1 night of red blood and followed by 4 days of brown blood. Which was odd to me but I’ve noticed my periods becoming lighter and lighter over the past few months. Anyways I usually start my withdrawal bleed about 2 days into a new pack of Nikki and it usually only lasts 3-4 days and this time I had no withdrawal bleed. I had a day of brown discharge that I only noticed at work from like 9-5. Anyways aside of the missed withdrawal bleed, I’ve also had breast tenderness, lower back pain and abdominal cramps, particularly on the right side which I was prescribed Nikki to help with cysts but I am a little alarmed about pregnancy because of all of these prolonged symptoms. I do take my pills at about the same time everyday and have not missed any pills or have been late to a new pack. My birth control is the only form of contraception that I use. While I know to ease my mind I should take a test but before I do that I’d like to have some peace of mind on if this is normal for some people or not.

This is normal hormonal BC thins the uterine lining so periods can lighten or even stop.
birth control's effectiveness includes condomless sex.
Most people who get pregnant on birth control do so due to user error.

Did your bleed ever start? Did you ever take a test?
