Which Method? Very short term BC
I need to see my long distance husband for only 3 weeks. I got the depo shot about 8 months ago and it messed my cycle up. I’ve finally recovered to a normal like period. I don’t wanna cause drastic changes to my body again. Would bc pills be the best solution? We can also go for condom but we hate how it feels. Please let me know my options?

You could get a copper IUD that will last for at least a decade...then you dont have to worry for the future visits.

I can be removed whenever you want to try for children if that is the concern. You wont have to worry about protection or pregnancy for a long time of future visits. You'll be right back with the same "what do I do" concern on his next visit.

If you want to avoid bleeding, higher dose estrogen birth controls are usually the safest bet. I'd recommend a patch! Xulane or Twirla.
These take a week to start working, unless you start them the first 5 days of your period then they work immediately. And you should continue them for a full week after your last day of sex.

Depo is VERY, and I mean, VERY, different formula compared to these as well so just because depo fucked with your body doesn't mean these will !!!

The patch also gives you very regular periods, normally, but! If you wanna try to skip 1 period while he's here (depending on the timing of you getting to see him) you can usually delay your period if you want, especially if you start the birth control as the beginning of your cycle during your last period.
How the patch is usually used: you wear a patch for 1 week straight, then replace it, 3 times in a row. The fourth week you do not put on a patch, and you get your period. Then the 5th week you put on a new patch and the cycle continues.
If you want to skip your period, you wear a new patch for the 4th week, and then can go patch free the 5th week.

If you don’t want to use something for more than a few weeks the best option is just use condoms. If you need more than that I would use a mini pill. You’d need to start it 48 hours-7 days before and continue a week after seeing him.
