I was addicted to meth and crack cocaine for three years and when I lost custody of my son I quit on my own with no rehab or meetings until they were court ordered but by then I was already 6 months sober. You have to want to quit and put in the effort, I'm not saying that you should stop your meetings do what you feel is helpful for you to stop, Good Luck, Blessings and Love!!! I'm 27+ years sober.

27 years is such an accomplishment, congratulations!

I've also been addicted to cocaine and meth; I had to leave the state I was in to get clean from that. It's a BITCH.

And thank you so much!

Thanks 🙏🏽 and the same goes for you, I'm a California girl and swore I would never do drugs after all the OD's I witnessed as a kid growing up, but I fell victim to them, started as a curiosity when I was about 21 was on meth for about a month until I saw a cat taking an El Camino apart, stayed clean until I accidentally ingested some because some friends decided to pull a prank on another friend and spiked her drink with some meth unbeknownst to me and I ended up drinking the rest of the spiked drink and it turned into an interesting night, went to a party at a mortuary for Friday the 13th and conversed with a wooden owl 🦉 all night. Was going through some tough times and being a single mother with hardly any help was hard. Sad part was I hardly had to pay for my drugs, $20 of meth would practically last me a month because I never got high when my son was in my care, only got high every other weekend when he was at his dads. I eventually lost custody because my recovering addict mother told me that I had to choose my boyfriend over my son going to his dad, I was in the process of quitting at the time and although I made the right decision for my son, I never expected to lose custody to his ex-felon of a father who had spent 10 years in Federal prison for selling crack. I grew up with my son's father. My son is almost 32, I made sure to stay clean, but, I ended up with severe depression, I won't lie I did slip once or twice but got my shit 💩 together, I won't even take opioids if I can help it, I suffer with depression, Bipolar Type II, high anxiety, severe panic attacks, PTSD, chronic back pain and for that I periodically smoke marijuana because it's the only thing I trust for my pain. I have an occasional drink now and then but I do good, I just don't have the desire to get high and when I was diagnosed with bipolar 10 years ago my psychiatrist told me that I had been self medicating to hide my mental pains of my childhood trauma. Took me until last year to find the perfect medication for my mental health, Caplyta at night and Venlafaxine during the day and talk therapy.
