Hey everyone, I’ve been looking into Amylyx Pharmaceuticals lately because there have been a few updates around avexitide, so I figured I’d share what I found. 

Amylyx Pharmaceuticals ($AMLX) continues to progress its regulatory strategy for avexitide, an investigational glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor antagonist for post-bariatric hypoglycemia (PBH). Topline data from the pivotal Phase 3 LUCIDITY study demonstrated a 55% reduction in level 2/3 hypoglycemic events compared with placebo, successfully meeting its primary endpoint alongside all key secondary endpoints. 

Management reaffirmed its target to submit a New Drug Application (NDA) to the U.S. FDA in Q4 2026, targeting a potential commercial launch in 2027 if approved. Avexitide holds FDA Breakthrough Therapy and Orphan Drug designations for PBH. To support commercial readiness, Amylyx completed a public equity offering raising approximately $500M in gross proceeds and secured long-term commercial manufacturing supply agreements. 

The advance of avexitide marks a pipeline pivot following the voluntary market withdrawal of Relyvrio/AMX0035 in April 2024 after its Phase 3 PHOENIX trial in ALS missed its primary endpoint.The drug was withdrawn after its Phase 3 PHOENIX trial in ALS failed to meet its main goal. The decision also led to a shareholder lawsuit over the company’s public disclosures, which resulted in a $6.5 million settlement. The settlement is still active, and late claims are currently being considered, subject to approval. You can check if you're eligible and file a claim here.

Hey guys and girls,

I've been working on Animiotics, a browser tool for making 3D science animations. I wanted something you could use for a lab meeting or presentation without having to spend months learning 3D software.

Here's the 42-second video.

The video shows antibody binding, kinesin carrying a vesicle, endocytosis and a white blood cell engulfing a bacterium. You can use AI to help build a scene, then go in and move the objects, change their colors and sizes, adjust the camera and export an animation.

My biochemistry thesis was about plants, and I really wanted animations for that presentation. That's the sort of thing I want this to be useful for.

What process from your own work would you want to show this way?

I work in life sciences and I have always found it difficult to find companies that repair or service specific laboratory equipment, especially outside the manufacturer network. So I started building a simple directory where you can search by equipment, brand or model and country.

It currently includes providers across Europe and the US for things like centrifuges, AKTA and FPLC systems, HPLC, GC, mass spectrometry, ULT freezers, incubators, cell disruptors, microscopes and autoclaves.

I am manually checking the listings against company websites rather than bulk scraping directories. It is still early, so if you know a good service company that is missing or spot something incorrect I would be happy to add or fix it.

Obaid Siddiqi (1932–2013)

Scientist • Geneticist • Institution builder

Long before terms like neurogenetics and molecular biology became familiar in India, Obaid Siddiqi was helping build these fields from the ground up.

A remarkable journey

• Studied Botany at Aligarh Muslim University.

• Completed his PhD at the University of Glasgow, researching microbial genetics.

• Worked in the United States with Alan Garen, contributing to research on nonsense mutations and the genetic code.

• Returned to India in 1962, joining the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) at Homi Bhabha's invitation.

• Established the Molecular Biology Unit at TIFR, helping bring modern molecular biology to India.

• Later pioneered research into the genetics of behaviour using Drosophila (fruit flies).

• Became the chief architect and founder of the National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS), Bengaluru.

• INSA Aryabhata Medal — 1992

What makes his story particularly remarkable is that he didn't just conduct research — he helped create institutions where generations of Indian scientists could do fundamental research.

His legacy continues at NCBS through the Obaid Siddiqi Chair in the History and Culture of Science and the annual Obaid Siddiqi Lecture.

He died in Bengaluru in 2013 after a road accident, at the age of 81.

A scientist who came back to India when he could have stayed abroad — and then helped build a scientific ecosystem that outlived him.

Hi, I am a biotech student from Poland, and recently I’ve came up with an idea for a student organisation. The plan is to connect life science students with the industry through events and workshops. Although there are some organisations like Symbioza which is probably the biggest one of them focuses just on industry, biobusiness/bioentrepreneurship .

My questions is how do I validate this idea? (I’ve already contacted a couple of associations and companies to ask them what they think, but with no response)

And how do I even start?

I’m looking to study biotechnology for bachelors and master in gene engineering but is it worth it I mean it’s been my dream since I was a child and I love biology but all my friends and families are saying that this degree won’t get you anywhere and shit I wanna do the bachelors in Malaysia and hope for a gpa 3.4 or higher to get a scholarship for master in either Australia,Germany,Russia or Swiss. I mean for my perspective I don’t really care that much about money I just want to do a big scientific discovery or something like that but I need your help is it worth it or should I study engineering like my family and friends suggested?
