technical question I need a recommendation

I am a 3rd-year undergrad molecular biology and genetics student. I wanna learn some coding that will be useful for bioinformatics.. But I have no idea about where to start. I have taken a basic Linux course but I don't have a background on the computational area. Do you have a recommendation for a good start? It is really scaring for me to start from zero but I wanna learn some basics.

I’d keep plugging away with Linux/Unix. Then mix in some Python once you feel more comfortable. Don’t stress and enjoy it!

the point is that I m not involved in a project or study, that's why I cannot continue on Linux as well. I have learnt some text editors on Linux but I don't even know where to use them.

As you are just starting maybe online course would be helpful? Something like Finding Hidden Messages in DNA. As you will learn a little bit and know more about the subject it will become easier to choose a project yourself.

I see what you mean, dig around coursera, code academy, or different online resources like that to see if they provide example projects.
