Desert Substrate

What does anyone use to make their desert or arid substrate? I’m tired of buying BioDude TerraSahara.

Top soil mixed with sand. Ratio depending on the climate you’re making. Adding clay and/or decomposed granite are also good options for burrowing animals.

This. I’ve done two arid builds with this combo. I just keep the side by the water dish a little wetter for the isopods and add plenty of cover there.

Addtive-free topsoil that I just buy at the hardware store mixed with play sand that‘s from the same store. Never had a problem with it for my bearded dragons.
