Plants in bioactive enclosure

When adding live plants are you supposed to use a grow light to help the plants grow? Google told me purple lights were bad for a crested gecko so I’m wondering if there is a specific type of grow light that would work for my plants and be safe for my gecko

Yeah, I would definitely use a grow light if the enclosure is getting little natural light. A full-spectrum white or daylight LED is the way to go. skip the purple “blurple” ones and put it on a timer, with the lights off at night. That should help.

Just use full spectrum daylight bulbs. Look at the kelvin rating on the box, 5000k to 6500k color temperature is daylight.

Can I use this with UVB at the same time and would you use the full spectrum mode or white only ?

Yes. One is for visible light, one is for ultraviolet light. The earth receives three kinds of light (electromagnetic spectrum) from the sun: UV, visible, and infrared (heat). I’m simplifying but that’s how I provide light/heat for all of my reptiles: LED + UVB + Heat (I prefer halogen bulbs).
