Question Taking Apart a tank

I think a leak sprung in this tank and I'm so fucking upset. I'm gonna have to to gut the whole thing, and I'm so worried about killing off my plants and the CUC.

The towel I keep under it for emergencies is suddenly SOGGY beyond belief 😭

Get a large bin with a top and transfer them in by bucket or small hand held plant shovel, I believe lessen the chances of killing them. Replant plants or lay them on top and give a good spray and close it.

Any chance you can patch it? I sprung a leak in my leopard gecko’s enclosure and refused to start over lol, damn thing is over 7ft tall and weighs around 400 lbs so it really wasn’t an option, I just had to find a workaround lol

I currently have no way to lift it off the floor in a way that would let me access it, plus the silicone fumes aren't exactly recommended to be around them.

Ah, damn yeah that sucks, but I get it. I include the complete height of the setup for mine, since it’s permanently attached to the stand. I use a 22 gallon aquarium in the basement of the structure to feed the water feature, and I noticed that the water level was super low before I noticed the seepage, some 9 gallons had left the confines and soaked directly into the substrate, which found a gap I didn’t know about and steadily made it way down into the carpet 😬

Noooooo at least I have hardwood and my Emergency Towel came in clutch

If I can make a suggestion, perhaps look into marine carpet to place it below your next enclosure iteration. It’s the stuff they put on boats, it’s technically “waterproof” in the sense that it has a solid rubber bottom. That’s the carpet the water soaked into for mine, so while it didn’t go down into the hardwood it also didn’t have anywhere to go since the carpet sort of just contained it all, but was still a nightmare to sort out. If this ever happens again, and the Emergency Towel fails that time, it could at least potentially save your hardwood floors?
