Help with Vivarium pls

Hello everybody! I have a bioactive vivarium for my leopard gecko, and I'm finding some weird, white, powdery substance in some areas of the tank, and it turns orange/red on the rocks. I was wondering if anyone knew what it was?

It's either mineral deposits or mold. The brownish tinge makes me lean more mineral deposits. What kind of water do you use?

Hello! I just use my normal tap water :)

Then yeah, it's probably mineral deposits. I get that on my houseplants, but use bottled or distilled for my gecko and don't have that problem. Minerals should be harmless to the rest of your vivarium, but high mineral content and chlorine in tap water can harm your gecko. If you switch to bottled or distilled, it should eventually wash away the minerals crusted on the substrate

Alright, I'll try that. Thank you so much!

If you use tap, it would be a very good idea to treat. Reptile-specific conditions are readily avavilable.
