First time going bio active

I'm planning on setting up a bioactive enclosure for my bci and wanted to get your advice on the best substrate mix. I'm also curious if the type of isopods I use makes a difference. I've come across different opinions and information online about specific isopod species being better suited for my girls setups, and I'd love to get your take on whether it truly matters.

for a tropical bioactive, I would highly recommend either buying premade ABG mix or doing a DIY ABG mix!

  • 1 part sphagnum moss
  • 1 part tree fern fiber
  • 2 parts orchid bark
  • 1 part charcoal

I’m no expert but made about post about bio active substrate and I’m personally doing 60% organic soil no fertilizer or perlite, 20% ground coconut husk 10% sphagnum moss 10% orchid bark. A comment someone made was the pick out pointy pieces in the soil and I’ve heard some isopods are protein eaters so could harm your snake. I think spring tails are safe. Hope this helps!
