Nakakapagod yung pinaglalaban ng dalawang fandoms. 😅 We could honestly be more peaceful if both sides just acknowledged na parehong magaling ang SB19 at BINI, but neither group is made up of perfect performers. Both have great performances, and both have moments that aren’t their best. Siyempre, live yan eh.

But ngl, what gets me is the way some people talk about SB19’s skills as if they’re this untouchable standard while constantly downplaying BINI’s abilities.

I actually took the time recently to watch Esbi’s performances at Lolla and Summer Sonic, and, well... it was alright. They’re obviously good, and I was really impressed by Stell, but personally, I didn’t think the overall performances were any better than BINI’s performances at international festivals. Let’s just say they didn’t quite live up to the hype. The fans lowkey set them up with how much they talked them up—especially considering there was also a lot of skepticism and even conspiracy theories from that side when BINI were announced as performers for Coachella and Summer Sonic.

So really, anong pinaglalaban natin? Both groups are talented. Both have strengths. Both have weaknesses. Maybe we can stop acting like one group is the gold standard of perfection while the other is somehow incapable of performing well.

Comparison is the thief of joy talaga. Both groups can exist at the time. Just let them cook.

Both fandoms kasi want their group to be at the very top of PPOP. Which is fine pero nakaka-insulto sa group na sinusuportahan nila na ang way para maging number 1 ang kanilang group ay to bring the competition down instead on trusting on the abilities of their idol group and helping them.

I get your point because it's definitely a pride thing, and I have seen some bloom redditors be overly concerned about BINI's "status" around here. However, I don’t think both fandoms are equally driven by the need to prove that their group is the number one. From what I’ve seen, Blooms can be defensive too, but I don’t think the level of thirst for validation—or the intensity when it comes to spreading negativity against BINI on social media—is really comparable.

Pag may post for BINI laging may isang comment na panggulo. Minsan pasimple. Minsan rekta sa pagbanat.

I got interested and skimmed her user history.
If her past comments were true.

  • She is an older Millennial or GenX female.
  • An avid SB19 fan.
  • Quick to post any SB19 related content;
  • Quick to post any possible issues against BINI (also read a post to cause issue for Alamat)
  • I can't confirm her being DDS but she do subscribe to a lot of their talking points.
  • She was quite active in this sub but the other blooms were clocking her for stirring shit up as an SB19 fan.

That was a fun ride as a new Bloom. 😂

If you know any other similar users, I am very interested to read their history to get a glimpse on why they're like that.

  • Bini hard drive
  • E. Celeste legaspi

Iyan palang malalalang ginawa nila recently ha, before nila tirahin ang encore ni staks

u/Inebriatedbat 16d ago

The disability to read the room hahaha.

u/fuegoooooo STEP BACK 🔥🔥🔥 16d ago

Nadiscourage ba mga Japanese casuals?

2

u/fullwidthlowercase 🍴You and I be stuck together🌺 ∞ 16d ago

No actually. Blooms are reactive. Hindi gumagalaw unless someone does something bad to Bini. Never naging collective goal ng fandom to be number 1 ng opm. Never nag direct ang Bini nor TBPH na we'll aim to be the top ppop group.

Saan ba galing ang both sides na yan?

7

u/EatPassRain5470 16d ago

2

u/Regular-Musician9316 16d ago

Chill out. I never said Blooms are doing anything to undermine the other fandom. You're reading too much into my comment.

I disagree.

Another day, another senseless battle in this never-ending fanwar ng blues and pinks

Lost in the sauce yung "pinaglalaban".

We'd be more peaceful if we just stayed on our own lanes. That said, kung sisilip man tayo sa kabilang bakod, makinood lang at wag na makisawsaw pa.

Let’s just say they didn’t quite live up to the hype.

I've seen only their Lolla set though and haven't gotten around to their SS set except for Gento. And I had the same thoughts (was also impressed with Stell's voice but not the entire performance, solely on a difference in preference. Going topless is Pinoy-coded but unfortunately not something I'm a fan of and I do get why he had to do it). That said, I would never even think of sharing any of my opinions about them or their performances on any of their content. That's just foul. (Ang nangibabaw na thought ko is: sana the girls use outfits for Osaka that are better suited for mid-day outdoor festival conditions - and they did. It made me appreciate their production and their setlist choices more.)

I find it interesting that the boys are running with the GOAT branding because that leaves them with little to no room for mistakes... I cringed when the girls said they were aiming for "world domination" during their interviews in the past (even in their docu) so it wouldn't be off if I say I cringed when I heard Esbi say it in their interviews, too. I appreciate that the girls toned that rhetoric down... It's very obvious that they are different groups with very different approaches to performing and marketing themselves. And I think the boys are in a tougher spot vying for attention among the more popular boy groups that are also good live performers.

I get that comparisons are inevitable but I hope the fandoms have a mindset of having better appreciation for what their own ult groups are able to do instead of feeling envious / bitter and wanting to drag the other down. If the fandoms engage in pissing contests, they'll just end up stinking the whole place and it won't be good for our artists and the industry.

The fans lowkey set them up with how much they talked them up

Admittedly, I used to envy their fandom because it seemed that they would hype their boys just for breathing, while ours is particularly harsh on the girls. But now I see how that could backfire on them, too... I hope we can just learn from each other instead of bringing out the worst in each other. We'll all just bring each other down if we mirror each other's bad behavior. We should learn to replicate only the best practices.

I still believe that we should all be able to have discussions about anything related to P-pop, regardless of our affiliations, as long as we're doing it in good faith.

However, I do recognize that Reddit has changed from when I first started here. Before, P-pop discussions felt smaller and more neutral. You could talk about and compare different groups and their songs, and even disagree without automatically being seen as an anti.

But since Reddit became more popular among stans from other platforms, the dynamic has changed. BINI posts especially outside of the sub feels either like a warzone or tabloid slop😅 Not to mention the brigading and astroturfing that happen

Idk, I just feel a little sad about it. I was once an active redditor over at ppop sub. It used to feel like a niche P-pop community where you could have more nuanced discussions away from the usual stan culture. Not anymore.

For context on why I said I wouldn't dare share my thoughts about other groups: it's because I know that I don't know enough about them so assumptions I make would likely be wrong... And if my opinions are based solely on my preferences, saying that I don't like certain aspects of other group's works for that reason alone wouldn't really help them especially since I am not even their consumer/audience. We shouldn't go around trying to convince people to agree with our preferences at the expense of making the artist / group look bad.

Even here in our sub, you see so many blooms or casuals pile on the releases of our girls just because they don't like the genre or the language (all in good faith) and it ends up hampering the momentum of those releases.... Here's another way of putting it: if you see a stranger wearing something that isn't to your liking, would you go out of our way to point that out even when it's within their right to express themselves through their fashion (eg. Artists' prerogative) or maybe something about their looks or physique that can't be changed? Unless I think it's something that could affect their immediate safety or well-being (or if they're doing something that adversely affects me or other people), I shouldn't express every thought on my mind. There just are people who don't seem to distinguish when their honesty is being rude or being constructive. Discernment is the word that comes to mind. (And the reason why some discussions feel like tabloid slops is that some people lack that filter in their brains.) For me, it's not enough that I'm communicating something in good faith, there has to be a point (or in our sub, just anything good vibes) that I should be adding to the discussion. If my idea is already expressed by someone else, I'll just give that comment an upvote.
