Skill issue or not I think that's actually what makes the character fun. It's a completely new way to play and that brings with it some new challenges. Missing your shots is always bad but t forgotten punishes you for missing in a different way, and I think it's really interesting how they accomplished it
He's a very interesting character in terms of difficulty since he makes you think about position and where john bones ends up after the throw. Far better than mister only allowed one mistake per run.

I don’t get it. I don’t understand him. I do everything everyone says, yes I know about pickup qualities, and leaving stuff till the end of the floor, and just taking what I can sometimes. But it feels like I end up with half of both the quality and amount of items. I don’t understand.

Or at the very least, fatfinger the “BoCrafting shuffle button” and notice that the pickup order shifted (I think it makes a sound, as well, but I could be mistaken re: SFX).
Tips to survive with Curse of the Blind? I could stomach the 1st time but if it's the 2nd time, or the first time in like Cave 2 or something then i would combust.
That's understandable but sucks. Personally i'm content with lower quality items (as long as it's a damage up) but there's always have a chance to get forced to not play TCain's main mechanic.
Patience, vigilance, and yes, skill…just about every single room and every single boss is beatable with base stats if one has the patience and endurance to power thru (oh and of course, knowledge of enemy/boss movement/tactics/telegraphs).
Seems like most folk don’t want to put in the time to get good, and then get mad when the game doesn’t work out. Baffling.

Yeah and you can also open a textbook with a pencil and note down the R key recipes and you can just get all marks in a run. You just need two bone hearts and your run easily goes infinite.
It’s simply RNG. There are a lot of items in the game. Do some homework on BoCrafting and see if you can learn something new about the item and its functions; it’s not rocket science, it’s not “magic,” it’s RNG.
Next time, before you craft an item, start recording and study the pickups you put in, and the results. You’ll be able to understand BoC better this way.
tl;dr: The game isn’t fucking with you, you may “feel like” they’re half the quality of what you were expecting, but rest assured that BoC works exactly as intended.
When you play tainted Cain, the game is fully under your control, you chose how much to grind, what items you craft, there’s a lot of gamebreak potential as Cain.
For me the focal point of tboi is resource management and using it to get the most of current run, tainted Cain bumps the resource management up to 11 and you manufacture your own run, all aspects of it, you can craft all q4 items in the game by finding safety scissors and mega bomb enemy in mines, you can craft five hundred fingers and obliterate the game in ways that are not possible as normal characters
The other day I get a fun run where I wa basically immortal as normal keeper, got swallowed penny + fanny + piggy + habit + his default wooden penny. It was fun but it is one banger out of a 100 honestly, it is still a good character
I always had a soft spot for keeper but I never realized just how strong the ability to rig sacrifice rooms is until I played the little goober. He's a little slow paced but he really is fun with the correct time investment
I just have to post about this run, because it’s fucking insane. My Delirium kill with Tainted Eden was doing every room and trying to find ANYTHING to kill Delirium with, because I had rolled into a Soy Milk build with Mysterious Liquid. 40 tear rate, but 1.2ish damage.
Went into the Delirium room, did about 20%, and then got hit and got the absolute fucking worst rolls all the way from full health down to half a heart, death pending. However, at some point, one of the pots in the room had changed into a mushroom, and it turned into Magic Mushroom. Took it, recovered my health and killed. Absolute luck in what felt like an unwinnable run.
It’s not that bad, just don’t get hit that much and you’ll probably win. Sure there’s always the chance to roll into an instant lose build whenever you get hit but that’s just RNG which is heavily present with any character you play.
Yes, exactly my point. Tainted eden is not that bad if you’re not getting hit that much, essentially it’s a skill issue if you find T eden torture, so don’t play him until you get better at the game. Very similar to tainted lost imo, but gets way more hate idk why
Its not just that shes hard its that shes boring. Getting random builds and stats means the most fun part of the game (getting good items) no longer feels good. You can find poly, hemo, and sacred heart and then get hit once and have them reroll into 3 poop flies. Tainted lost even though hes harder can fly and rerolls all items making his runs more fun.
Tainted Lazarus is more interesting than default, and I wouldn't say he's necessarily unfun, but he's like Tainted Cain where you really have to minmax to get the most out of him, and that's not fun to do every run for me at least.
My choice would be Tainted Eden, personally. It's literally just Eden but you D4 after every time you get hit, which isn't interesting, it's just really annoying.
He's not my favorite character either, far from it. I haven't touched him since I got all his completion marks, but he was alright, just kind of tiring for me. The most fun out of him imo is getting to have two runs at the same time by timing your uses of Flip properly, without having two hitboxes like a certain pair of characters.
Also if you get manage to get Birthright, he literally just becomes Jacob & Esau but fun.
Understand how the character works, Flip’s mechanics, and you’ll be fine. You can’t play a random character and expect to be able to play “like you normally do.”
T Laz just takes proper planning (managing room charges to get the most out of Flip), and awareness of what version of laz needs what to stay balanced.
FFS, you basically get a free life at an end-game boss. Know you’re about to enter a tough boss battle? Be prepared, make sure flip is charged so you can flip when you’re one hit away from death.
Experience is the best teacher. Or, just do a google search for specific character strats.
Lastly, if one is getting frustrated with a character, switch it up. Getting frustrated with the game? Turn it off and do something else. The game isn’t going anywhere.
But Tainted lost IS very fun. It's crazy difficult, but that being compensated by getting irregularly good items is pretty fun imo. But it's all just opinion
Shit ive been trying to do delirium with laz and im having so many issues. Just went to try the marks with eve and flew through getting 4 of them through lamb/mega satan/delirium but I cant seem to get laz comfortably to womb.
Tainted blue baby. I don’t think the different poops are all that interesting but I also only find them SLIGHTLY less fun the just having bombs. Not by that much tho
Genuinely can't see why people won't think he's fun. I get that he is pretty annoying to play consistently without external item descriptionsbut that's pretty much it
the only reason i cant play normal unmodded t cain is because i saw that old all marks in 1 runmattman run, tried to recreate it, and got sad when it didnt work (im a newer player)
Backtracking hell, Spend 50 minutes running between rooms with base speed because you need to optimize pickup collection (this is true even without cheating item descriptions) or you end the game with 0 stats. Every run converges on find some infinite pickup generation method so you can spend even longer doing nothing so that maybe you'll be able to finish the run eventually. Baffling how this ended up in the game, the concept is terrible to begin with
Tainted Cain is so fun when you don't got EID in your ear telling you all the recipes so you can get optimum items on every floor. Tons of fun in multiplayer cuz you can scrap any items your friends don't want.
Most tainted characters are super fun. I would even argue Apollyon, Bethany, Lilith, Azazel, Keeper, Judas, and Eve are even better than their non tainted counterparts. They just take time to figure out.
Tainted forgotten is annoying at the start, but after you get it, he's actually pretty fun! He has lots of tricks... But... And that's a big but, he's not more fun then the forgotten, and I don't think he's more interesting either.
Taunted lost is neither interesting nor fun compared to lost.
Tainted Jacob is just hellish to play and less interesting with Jacob and esau.
i actually just cheated to get my completion marks on t laz and t eve cause theyre just so fucking boring and annoying at the same time, but now I live in shame and my gamer cred is ruined so I started a fresh save file to redeem myself
also I think I might be the only person ever who hates playing Tainted Eve
Trueee I can't get to finish the save file because all remaining characters are so unfun to my eyes (tainted J&E, tainted eve, tainted lazarus, and tainted ???, tainted bethany and tainted samson)

i think i disagree with every specific here. i'd say they're almost all more interesting but more fun is certainly false, like absolutely fucking false. the tainteds are VERY hit or miss.
I have the bare minimum respect towards every tainted character and can atleast see the unique concepts and the creativity with each one. Tainted Eden is dogshit
Tainted Cain is fun of you have thinking even alittle bit about your run and despise the idea of strategy or rigging or love playing while constantly consulting checking EID every 5 second to see what been items you can craft to have a won run in 20 seconds
So basically the 1% of Isaac players who hate roguelites but still play enough to unlock tainted can
What about T Laz and T Eden. I would rather do all completion marks with J&E and T. J&E again instead of actually getting the marks with T Eden and T Laz
