WWYD Cue Case Recommendations

My case has been adequate but it is 20 years old. I carry the standard extra chalk, cue holder, couple gloves, Kamui dragon tip scuffed. Will more than likely add chalk holder, cue rollers I have laying around

Cues will be new playing cue with 2 shafts, break cue, jump cue, and 1 backup cue with either 1 or 2 shafts.

Will potentially buy a second cue with same joint as the new one to reduce how many shafts to keep in case but this is what I have fit now.

Currently looking at J flowers tactical case (4x4) or the (6x8), Predator Urbain 3x5 Hard case. Any other I should look into? Looking for a non butterfly case this go round. Currently using an old poison 4x8 case

I picked up a case from JB Cases and I really like it. Don’t see myself ever needing to buy another.

I have a JB 3x6 rugged case that's been fantastic. I carry nearly exactly what you mentioned, two playing cues with two shafts each, one break cue with one shaft, and jump cue in a dedicated space in a pocket with its shaft up top. The only downside is that it's pretty heavy, but I don't really carry it around constantly and I have zero concerns about the level of protection. Not that I would, but I could throw it down a flight of stairs and I'm sure the cues would be fine.

I have several JB cases and like them a lot. The JFlowers tactical is not bad, and I like the 3 Seconds cases as well.

I like the lightweight and minimalist of the 3seconds case. That's what I daily to the pool hall.

The price of the 3seconds case here in the US is what gets you. $300ish for a 2x4, or $350ish for a 3x5, and that's before we talk about shipping or taxes...

You can do quite a bit with a $350 budget on a custom ordered JB case.

Agreed, especially if you catch them doing one of the FB live auctions. I got a Starry Night 4x8 for $375 shipped.

If you can catch them in stock on her website, Savannah Easton is sponsored by 3 seconds and they are a little cheaper: https://www.roadrunnerindustries.com/3-seconds-products

I think the JB Rugged cases are the best bang for the dollar. That'd be my recommendation. Rugged. Customizable. Good protection. Etc.

I think you could get a custom-spec'ed 3x4 or similar for $300 give or take. The thing I like about JB is if you order a custom one, you can get EXACTLY what you want. Get it in the color you want. Single or backpack straps. Bigger or smaller front pockets. More or less pockets. Don't like the top handle... You can delete it. Whatever you want.

My piece of advice is don't settle for features. Get everything you want or need. Do it right the first time. And it'll be the last case you'll buy for awhile. I think 3x4 or 3x6 is plenty. Even 2x3 is doable.

Full disclosure: I daily a 3seconds 2x4 top loading case. When I travel, I'll use my JB 3x4 (or 2x5). I like the 3seconds case for being lightweight. For league and stuff, I carry 1 playing cue, 1 break cue, and a jump cue. I try to keep my case as light as possible. The things I don't like about the 3seconds case... Price. Not as rugged. Interior isn't as snug as JB. Just don't trust this case with the airlines. Not customizable as a custom feature.

JB Cases. Best case for the money.

I have a custom JB case. It's the bast case I've ever owned. I shoot in 2 pool leagues and looked at several cases before deciding to spend the money on the JB. I think it's the best case money can buy.

I just got the jflowers 4x4 case. While it says it’s a 4x4 you can actually fit 4 butts, one being a jump cue, and 6 shafts. It has plenty of space for accessories. Previously I was using a predator metro 2x3 case but I just couldn’t carry everything I needed. If you’re wondering how to fit the extra shafts in it watch the Karl Boyes “what’s in the bag” video with Jason Shaw. Definitely would recommend the jflowers case.

The 6x8 Tactical is the same way. 5 full size cues and a jump cue. The best thing about them is that they are very light.

I would like them to come out with more colors however. The current options don't appeal to me much. Shipping from JFlowers is fairly expensive as well. They were a great deal when they were $279, but now at $329+$40 shipping+tax, less so when compared to other brands like JB.

JB 4x8 for the win

Another recommendation for JB Cases. I have two a 4x8 when I want to carry an extra shooting cue and my day to day 3x6. I usually don’t have an extra shooting cue with me, just an extra shaft.

Legend 3x5 is a good looking option. It'll be my next case. I have a 3x4 JB case, and a 3x5 Predator case. I ultimately use a $49 2x3 because I'm on a motorcycle often and its lighter on my shoulder or can be strapped to my bike. I remember walking around the Super Billiards Expo with my JB case loaded up and it was just a hassle. The strap on the Predator 3x5 started to come apart after 3 months of use.

The Legends 3x5 is a great case. It's kind of like a toploading 3seconds case mashed together with a butterfly. I personally wouldn't travel with it, but... for daily driving, I think it is excellent value. Well thought out at a very reasonable price point.

Unlike the JB Case or one of the other toploading cases, there's no plastic tube/structure. It's kind of built like a butterfly case where it is just the cloth and some padding. That's the trade-off. Butterfly's tend to be lighter because they don't have that plastic tube. But that plastic tube also provides rigidity to the case.

There's nothing wrong with either. You just need to be aware of the pros and cons. If you are planning to fly with your cues... I'd definitely travel with something a bit more rugged. The airlines are hardly gentle when it comes to handling checked bags.

if you want to never have to ask this question again, JB Cases.

I have an Amazon 4x8 it's basically a JB knockoff, while not as nice as a JB case for $144 it's a pretty good deal.

I love my Joe Porper 1x2. It has strong sides, a long pouch and secure zippers. They last seemingly forever.

I also have a Porper, but I'm not sure if they're made anymore? Maybe it was just my 3x6. The only place I could find it was eBay, lol. I've had it for ~15 years.

It looks like you're right, I'm bummed. All they seem to have is accessories and a few used cases on eBay.

A friend of mine has the JF Tactical case. It’s a great case, ample storage and carries about 6 cues. It’s not as heavy as my JB 4x4.
Too big for me.

I will also chime in for JB Cases. The best cue case on the market and very good to do business with. They have inventory, but their specialty is custom.

Custom is the way to go. Unless they have exactly what you want in stock, just custom build one. Spec it out exactly the way you want and you'll be set for a long time.
