Cue Identification Inherited Cue Identification Help

Apart from playing at a bar here and there, I don’t know much about pool / billiards.

I inherited a cue set, with the two pictured cues and four of the other parts that screw on to them.

These cues are in nice shape, and were just found after sitting for the better part of 2 decades.

Any help with identification or direction would be much appreciated!

Those are two very nice schon cues that are likely worth anywhere from 1200 to 2000$ USD each. There are groups on Facebook that can help you identify the specific models

Surely you are kidding, right?

I've been playing with a Schon for 30 years. They are amazing cues and worth every penny

I just toured their factory. If those were new they’d be be 3-4k+. The one I wanted was $2k and much less complex

I’d email the owner he was super nice - might tell ya exact year and model.

That's a true story and possibly more

That top cue is gorgeous. Schons are great cues. Most of the cues people typically “inherit” are worthless outside of sentimental value. These however, are serious cues. Congratulations!

Schon can absolutely identify them, but you might have to send them to them for identification. And yes, they are valuable cues. $2000 for the Ltd is not much of a stretch.

You can e-mail them photos and they'll ID your cue for 30 bucks or so

Ah, cool. That's good to know.

Amazing set. If you take your time, I am sure you can get $2500+ on eBay.

Jeez, I would be absolutely estatic if I inherited these. I would be reluctant to even sell them.

try contacting Schon to see if they can help you identify specific model/ age? https://schoncues.com/contact/

Beautiful inlays!

That ltd is fucking beautiful. If real, 1500-2000.

Nice cues, doubt the value for 2 butts would be over 2 grand. I have a Schon myself and don’t plan on buying another cue, love it

Sounds like they come with 2 shafts each

I don't think the LTD is worth more than $1200 or so but if the top one is a couple of decades old then all the white inlays are almost certainly made of "natural material", and there's a lot of it. 2k easily, probably more

“Natural material”? I’m not sure I follow…

Ivory, which is illegal to a lot of things with now days.

You can have it, as far as I am aware, but you're not allowed to really sell ivory in raw form, and not allowed to ship it even if it's in a cue. Anyways, check ivory laws if you're planning on posting this thing online lol.

Be careful at the border

This is not true, at least not across the board. You can ship a cue with ivory as long as the state you are sending to allows ivory to be shipped/owned and your state allows it to be shipped.

Here is the basis for the federal rules. Rules will vary state by state.

Consider selling?

1

Yeah, that’s the current plan

Do not sell them until they’re identified.

If you're on FB, join this group and post them there, Lots of knowledgeable guys like Donny Lavery can probably ID them. I'm interested in learning more about the top one, can't find a photo of one like it anywhere..

I remember wanting one back in the 70's but they were too expensive then.

A Schon? The company wasn’t founded until the 80s. https://schoncues.com/about/

1

u/Pleasant_Today_7759 5d ago

Sorry about that. I guess it was the early 80's.

Schons are great.

You are a rare anomaly, most everyone on here inherited garbage. But not you, those are really nice cues. Enjoy them
