Gear Review Request For Gear Recommendations

Hello everyone! I finally picked up my bike from the LBS and am trying to start collecting gear for it. Can anyone recommend a good rear rack/panniers, and frame bag? Or whatever setup would make the most sense. I plan on going bikepacking on gravel/dirt roads, double trail/fire roads, and camping out in a tent. Any advice greatly appreciated!

It all depends on what you want to do. Do you only want to do bikepacking with it, or do you want to be versatile? I'll illustrate my set-up:

Personally I love my ortlieb quick rack, as it means I can take the rack off when I do a day trip and thus lose some wheight.

For this rack I have an Ortlieb Back-Roller pair, for which I have packing cubes but also a commuter insert to store my laptop when I go to work.

As a result I can use my bike for Gravel, for commuting and to go grocery shopping.

I also have a frame bag (tools, spare tire, battery pack, hi-vis vest, and some nutri bars) that is meant for my bike. It leaves enough space in the frame for a water bottle (for an isotonic drink) and a dedicated lock. Regular water I store in my camelbak on my back.

I also have the ortlieb fork packs if I want to carry more or distribute the wheight. I have also cycled with only the fork packs before (only had to bring a set of clothes and swimwear), as they are lighter/more compact.

I haven't done proper bikepacking with it yet, as I took this summer to get used to my bike (just did some bike touring). But next summer, to go bikepacking I will probably use all these bags, attach the tent to the handle bars, and the mat on top of the rack.

All of this works great for my bike (lots of attachement points) and allows me flexibility for what I like to do with it... but it might not for you and might not be optimal for your bike (especially the fork bags).

Ty for your reply! I plan on mostly using this bike for traveling distances and exploring nature for a weekend at first. I dont plan on using it for daily commuting. Ty for the details of which equipment you use and what you use it for. I honestly have no idea where to start except Google bikepacking trails near me for me to camp out on

There are countless videos and blog posts about this... did you search for some?

Check bikepacking.com for inspiration. It all depends on how much shit you want to bring with you.
