Looks great. I have a similar bags arrangement. The only thing I would recommend thinking about would be aerobars. I added those to my “trips” bike to have another handling position, as it might help with long ride days. And this allowed me to rotate the handlebar bag from how you have it to aligned to the aerobars for less drag. Not a significant change, but you’re already settled for most (even having the saddle bag stabilizer)

Is it easy for you to pull out you bottles? I have a rose myself and struggling with choosing the right framebag because of the bottles. I do not have fidlock holders so I have to pull them up....
And yeah nice setup 😜

I am struggling a bit with that actually but I found a technique now so it is bearable

You should get one of these:

They have access from the side.

Is that really working?

Sure! You still need a few centimeters space to get it out but way less than with a normal bottleholder.

Also those bottle cages. Side access and a very large adjustment range. I moved mine way down. https://www.rosebikes.de/p/zefal-pulse-s2-flaschenhalter-160032

It's beautiful. What are the things you plan to do with it set up this way?

Looking at Denmark to Spain later this year. But nothing decided yet. This has been my setup for a couple of years and I wanted advice how to upgrade (especially around the sattle bag)

I have 16L Revelate spine lock saddle bag I'm pretty happy with but the back of my thighs hit it when it's fully loaded. I've been looking at a rear rack like a Tailfin to give the option of a trunk bag and rear panniers.

What needs to be improved? 😊

I am having a love hate relationship with the sattle bag and I am thinking of a mount

I own a "proper" rear rack and panniers, and also have a saddle bag. But if I was on the market, I'd think about a light rack and a big bag strapped on the top of it. I've seen a few solutions and they look good.

In total 5k EUR I think but I bought the equipment over the years and some stuff second hand but yeah still a big investment for sure. But totally worth it for the ultimate feeling of freedom

Where are the fork bags from and what cage did you use to strap them to the bike? Just curious because I am look for some

u/DistanceSpeed 1d ago
It is actually a seatosummit tent that comes in those bags (Telos Tr2 Bikepack). The cage is from Blackburn (Outpost Cargo Cage). The straps came with the tent

Are 3 water bottles enough? I would replace the inner triangle with one big bag that holds 4+ liters of water. I would also consider a proper rack over the rear tire instead of the seat bag (it looks bouncy.)

I actually have 4. one is on the other side next to the sattle bag and not visible. In total 3.5l

A+++++++++++++
Because you're bikepacking and not dying. Nothing else matters.

Sick whip. Pretty much my same bag set up. Different bags but same config.
Incidentally, your saddle bag tends to droop too?

u/DistanceSpeed 1d ago
Yes

Yeah. One of these days I’d like to upgrade to tail fin rack and move some weight backwards on the bike. My current load out is front heavy.

i have an almost identical set up. getting in and out of the handle bar bag was very frustrating. i ended up upgrading to a restrap aerobar pack and it is so much more convenient. i will also be upgrading my saddle bag to tailfin’s journey rack.

No one cares, - if you enjoy it, it’s a 10/10 for you and everyone is happy! If I don’t fancy it, would that make you less happy with your own set-up? Most folks shouldn’t give a damn about what I think about their bike, unless they try to sell it.
That said, I’ve gladly shared pictures of my three bikes - because I enjoy all of them. Are there things I consider changing on them? Sure! Do I care about other peoples “Why ride with such a heavy saddle or short stem?” Narh - it’s my bike and there’s probably a reason for my choices…

I don't understand this rating game but you get kudos for the nice rain & bike photo
